I'll live if CR goes down. It's not the end of the world. Especially since CR isn't the only place where you can get videos.

Interesting. Anyways, it doesn't matter. This doesn't mean it's the end of CR. CR abides by the law for the most part anyways. I'd love to hear what good ol' Shinji has to say on this topic however.

Crunchyroll, a video-streaming website known for offering anime titles without authorization, secured a capital investment of US$4.05 million...

I'm not sure about this...
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-03-11/video-site-with-unauthorized-anime-gets-us$4m-venture

I can't believe that I just spent the last 4 and a half hours arguing on that thread! >.< All I have to say is that I have (re)learned that people can be pig-headed morons who will believe whatever they read in a blog...I mean only one of those statements is possibly true: CR receives $4M investment by venture capitalists...Alright, I can give the article(s) that one, as it seems to be largely acknowledged by the VC industry, but as for the rest? Speculation, hearsay, and flat out lies...

---> I guess we are watching illegally distributed and thus illegally hosted anime (illegally distributed by fansub group and therefore illegally hosted), but the willingness to remove licensed series does in fact provide some protection and validity, even if it means that we are still technically in the realm of illegality. Therefore, I do find it rather reassuring that these articles/blogs point towards CR possibly looking towards acquiring legal distribution rights with its new found wealth...Then again who isn't to say that is just more speculation and hearsay?

*mumbles*Stupid fucking ultra-Liberal media...Stupid fucking bloggers...*mumbles*

ok, first of all, it's a partnership, meaning half of the responsibility is shared. second of all, this is nothing, third of all, STOP FREAKING OUT, CR's not going anywhere, and it's obvious you kids don't understand business. Shinji needs CAPITOL to run CR... the site isn't free you know... and the advertisments are a good thing! if you really want to help out CR and keep it going, SUPPORT THE DAMNED SITE.

stop finding random little snippits and thinking that it's the worst thing in the world.

and FYI he told us about this awhile ago

Well so long crunchy, when the big sponsors come in, everything goes to crap.

But it was going to happen anyways, millions of hits, and a lot of people come in here - but hardly anyone donates (and yes I am another one who doesn't donate, I give my cash to a website which offers free downloads of xvid and HD quality)

Will I give out the sites name? Perhaps in a PM, but I don't like giving out the site name since leechers crashed the server when 14,000 people tried downloading an episode of rosario + vampire.

You can cry people, but unless some donate - the free lunch always runs out (and I come here to talk about anime and stuff on the forums, meet people my own age who like anime)

(and if this post doesn't make much sense, I am on some meds for a flu, bit loopy right now)

I don't think it's going anywhere, but it's not getting much better. >.> The bigger it gets the worse it is. and people need to remember, 90%+ of all the stuff on CR is still illegal.

I was talking about the 4m deal unless the Eagle Talon thing was the 4m deal? I was under the impression that they were separate from the article on the first post.

eagle talon was the $4m deal.

it says nothing about it being taken off..it says that they "intend to work directly with "a select number of Japanese firms" to acquire content legally."..it says nothing about it shutting down
