Well lets say you see different anime shows that say hi to someone else
like...
~yo
~Ohayo
~Konichiwa
~Konbanwa
~Yoroshiku
~hai

or a farewell that would go like
~ja
~ja mata
~ja na/ne
~Sayonara
~aaa

Note: something that would fit your personality in real life.

For me it would be yo- for hello and ja mata for -a farewell

It just depends on who you are speaking to. You use different forms of speech for different people. Different forms of hello and good bye when speaking to older people, younger people, friends, teachers etc...

Ooop~su - Usually means 'Wazzup' and most used expression by Kagami in Lucky Star.

Yo - Another expression used most by good looking anime guys and some awesome chicks in Animes.

Yaa~ - Expression used by Taki Suzuna form Eyeshield 21; She usually says Yaa~ before saying anything, expressing 'Happiness'.

Oi - Usually, like from Filipino as 'Hey', it also represents 'Hey' in Japan. I use that expression, doi.
