I was Just reading this :

Funimation, Bandai Entertainment Responds on Crunchyroll

On Wednesday, the North American distributor Funimation Entertainment has issued the following statement in response to news that the Crunchyroll video-streaming website has recevied US$4.05 million in venture capital funding:

Funimation has been carefully monitoring the activities of crunchyroll.com for some time. Since 2006 Funimation has provided several letters notifying the site's operators of copyright infringement issues in connection with content that has been made available through this site. To date, crunchyroll.com has complied with FUNimation's demands to remove the applicable content.

The battle against unauthorized distribution of anime is a battle that Funimation cannot fight on its own. Without proactive and effective copyright policing and enforcement by those that control anime content, sites like this will continue to gain a reputation as outlets for free anime. If this happens, the entire anime industry will suffer, making the expensive and time consuming work of producing anime content for the U.S. market impossible. As we've stated before, we will continue to act in the best interests of our Japanese licensors — and that includes ensuring that our industry as a whole has a commercial future in the U.S.

Update: Another North American anime distributor, Bandai Entertainment, issued a press release just four hours later that said the company agrees with Funimation's stance:

Bandai Entertainment Inc. announced today that it echoes Funimation's concerns over copyright infringement by sites that illegally stream anime.

Bandai Entertainment Inc. also informed the website crunchyroll.com to remove content that infringed on its copyrights and furthermore has been working with licensors in Japan, educating them about the pervasive illegal downloading and streaming of anime that has negatively impacted the market. Bandai Entertainment absolutely agrees with Funimation's assertion that this is an epidemic that will undermine the future of the anime business in Japan and the United States.

Bandai Entertainment Inc. will continue to work with other U.S. companies and Japanese licensors to fight against downloading and its negative impact on the US anime industry.

This isn't the only article I've seen about crunchyroll regarding the $4 million funding. Every streaming site has at least SOME problems with anime companies, I'd have thought crunchyroll was doing great, removing licensed animes. I wonder if this is going to get big enough for crunchyroll to really close...

CR removing animes? dont lie to me. a lot of licensed anime hasnt been removed yet form a long time. the moderators arent doing their job if they are the ones who are suppose to remove anime/other videos.

i have always been wondering why don't they target more on fansubs rather than sites like this.they should investigate the root(fansub) of the problem instead of shooting down every site that stream it or upload it

i dont think this really applies to Crunchyroll too much even if they do make an announcement because they remove most of the licensed material especially the popular. the only licensed stuff left on here are crap that wouldnt even sell lol

and WHAT?! crunchyroll got 4 million in funding?!?!?! lol. that cant be right

Lolz you must be kidding me cuz shows like Lucky Star and Kanon 2006 are very good and popular shows which have been licensed for like a long time and yet they are still up there and not removed yet! Its crunchyroll's fault for having moderators which don't do their job.

EDIT: however i love crunchyroll so please don't flame me about anything about CR and i don't mean all moderators. i mean there are a handful who just do bother to remove licensed anime.

EDIT : Whoops so lucky star is finally removed eh? it wasn't removed like 2 months ago although it was already licensed.

wouldn't there be some other alternative to shutting down CR if this was true...?

if worse comes to worse, maybe have commericals and paying members wouldn't have them and then the money from that can go to the license people?

i don't really thing CR is going to shut down any time soon, but just saying... if something like that does happen in the future, i hope they'll think up some compromise

especially since it's impossible for them to license and sub/dub every anime so english-speakers can watch it. that just isn't fair >.<

But if they Do go to the Root(FanSubbers). There are alot of People who can do fansub. So Im guessing that they are Picking on the BIG sites. What If Cr was discontinued (PLEASE DONT HAPPEN T__T) There are gonna be other Underground site that will be better then Cr. And If they Close that site then, Theres gonna be another site.(A Big Circle)

Funimation ish just Jealous that Site ish making more money then a Company =P And Bandai ish Just being stupid following Funimation. Im betting the next thing Viz is gonna comment about this. Then TokyoPop will complain about there manga being on the site.
