i agree with U !! and they should be greatful for this kind of site.... How do U think westerners Like anime in the 1st place? im pretty sure US companies did not start those anime related company just for the passion of anime (unlike there japanese counter-part). I guess thts the difference between the japanese and US companies, US only cares about the profits (and the dubbed version suck balls anyways) while japanese dont give a shit...

i think that if the licensed anime is removed from crunchy roll then there shouldn't be a problem.
if there's still a problem we'll just scare them off with mobile suits lol

i dont think this really applies to Crunchyroll too much even if they do make an announcement because they remove most of the licensed material especially the popular. the only licensed stuff left on here are crap that wouldnt even sell lol

and WHAT?! crunchyroll got 4 million in funding?!?!?! lol. that cant be right

Lolz you must be kidding me cuz shows like Lucky Star and Kanon 2006 are very good and popular shows which have been licensed for like a long time and yet they are still up there and not removed yet! Its crunchyroll's fault for having moderators which don't do their job.

EDIT: however i love crunchyroll so please don't flame me about anything about CR and i don't mean all moderators. i mean there are a handful who just do bother to remove licensed anime.

EDIT : Whoops so lucky star is finally removed eh? it wasn't removed like 2 months ago although it was already licensed.

there's also Naruto and Bleach, the 2 most popular anime right now. they were liscensed long LONG time ago and its still here.

yes theyre licensed but not the whole series. its costs a lot of money to license anime and manga and it costs even more money to transalate/dub and edit "inappropriate" sections so for long animes like bleach and naruto they dont license the whole thing. besides i dont think anyones actually finished a series on cartoon network cuz they always show reruns lol

Lets get ready to go underground !! Those companies dont appreciate sites like this becouse their core consumers are the very same people. If they piss off fans of crunchyroll like myself who also buy dvds there will be hell to pay, since I and many many others wont pay for dvds any longer becous we wont forget any thing they do . They need to know that we are the grass roots of the industrie and as such that its their own customers that their fu%*king with .

Like I allready said I am ready to go underground if they try something that puts this site under. They will forever be unworthy of my money if that hapens.

So whos with me!! We...need...Freeeeedom!!!!!

Shinji said that "Crunchyroll originally started as a site for fun, it was a pure site that simply wanted everyone to experience the culture and joy that is asian media" (http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-103584/Crunchyroll-is-now-AD-FREE.html).

Having these videos online introduces unknown anime to countries outside of Japan that don't have direct access (meaning not shown on TV) to these animes. In a way it's a form of advertisement for the anime and it makes the potential anime buyer aware of that certain title, thus it will make them want to buy the stuff connected to that certain anime (for example plushies, keychain, DVDs, mangas, games, etc) through means of online buying or though local stores if it gets licensed.

Don't blame Crunchyroll. Don't blame the mods for not being able to remove licensed stuff quickly because they have their own real lives too and they're not robots who can check each and every uploaded vid if it's licensed or not. And you can't blame people for wanting to share what they have.

Closing down Cruncyroll will not stop people from sharing what they want, be it licensed or not.

Good argument, one major flaw. It's true that CR is in a way advertising Anime titles to foreign countries outside of Asia. The problem is that about 90% of the people who are being "advertised" to don't buy plushies or keychains, let alone DVD's. The companies and producers who made the certain Anime would lose more money than their making because too many people are watching it for free instead of buying merchandise or purchasing it themselves to watch at home. In order to make up for the loss of money they would have to up the price on their merchandise like mad, then hardly anyone would pay for it. I'm in America......not too many hardcore Anime otaku's, if any, are here. It's the same thing with downloading music from the internet. The artist would lose money because less and less people are downloading their songs instead of purchasing it. I love CR and other sites similar to this, but in truth sites like these are basically leaches feeding off other people's work to help themselves. If this site does close down due to copyright and licensed, it would probably be due to Mod's not deleting the specific licensed media in time. Other than letting the licensed stuff slide so more people can watch it more I can't see the reason it takes to long to delete it......the all mighty delete button does not wait for others....XD

Yes that's what i been trying to say. Mods tend not to delete them is either because they themselves or their friends have not watch that show yet or they just want to let others watch it, while leaving a licensed anime on CR just increases the risk/rate/percentage of CR getting a lawsuit/complain/fine from a media company.

EDIT : Just a spelling mistake.

hmmmm good question. He could know and he could have not heard about it yet. I don't know if he reads updates and news from animenewsnetwork or does he constantly read forums. Only way we know if he knows about this is if he posts something like that on his profile or on CR home page or well he posts here on this topic itself!

Update New: Gonzo/GDH Contacts Crunchyroll Video Site

GDH production company confirms it is in talks with video streaming site

The main administrator of Crunchyroll, a video-streaming website with many unauthorized anime videos, has said in an online post that the Gonzo/GDH anime production company contacted the site. According to Crunchyroll, the two companies have been "trading ideas about what we can do together so everyone will benefit." In his post, the adminstrator added a cover image of a dialogue recording script for episode #1 ("The Giant Tower of Druaga") of The Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk fantasy anime series. Gonzo will premiere this game-based anime in Japan on April 4. On the recording script is a signature of Taichi Hashimoto, a producer on Rosario + Vampire, Speed Grapher, and other Gonzo works.

Crunchyroll previously said that the DLE production company authorized it to show the first episode of the series that would eventually become Eagle Talon The Movie - The Chancellor Only Lives Twice. The episode is the first anime video on the site that reportedly received any official authorization. ANN is awaiting confirmation from both DLE and GDH. Crunchyroll has been the center of public attention recently since it acquired US$4.05 million in venture capital. Funimation and Bandai Entertainment issued statements yesterday expressing concern over copyright infringement, and both said that they notified the site of infringing content.

Update: GDH has confirmed that it has been talking with Crunchyroll. GDH is planning a formal press release in the next two weeks or later regarding newer Gonzo titles. Druaga's premiere date has also been corrected. Thanks, shadowblack.
