It's completely stupid....How else do they figure anime fans find out about the stuff they license anyhow??? If it weren't for sites like this I wouldn't care less about the anime they license. I for one like to view my purchases before buying them. Everything I have ever watched on here has been bought and payed for once it's been licensed. If it wasn't for crunchyroll and other anime sites, the American Anime Industry wouldn't even have a fan base for the things they license and put out. It's through these kinds of sites that they find out what's really popular and what American anime fans really want to see on tv and buy.

I bet if half those people didn't work with companies like Funimation and Bandai they would be watching this shit right along with us on this very same website. Everyone wants something for free...everyone!

Sites like crunchyroll is the way forward for the anime industry now and Funimation and Bandai are catching on to this but somehow doesn't want to accept it. They are trying to clamp down on anime shown video streaming sites, is because they want to squeeze as much $$ out of the anime fans as they could before the big change happens. Over $200 for a 26 episode series on DVD is beyond ridiculous (*points finger at Bandai). Sad thing is that in the future we'll have to pay to watch anime on sites like crunchyroll, probably like a set fee every month and you can watch as much anime as you want, which i don't mind. Like many of you, i'm a casual anime watcher and i like to watch a little bit of everything, this site has done wonders for me as i can try and test out anime series to see if i like it before i devote my time and attention to it....i would pay for that. However, spending $20 on a few episodes of a series on DVD, which i would or wouldn't like is not a viable option.

At least CR doesn't replace cigarettes with lollipops like some, and have magical guns that just seem to edit themselves out.....haha. That's the reason they are pissed because CR is becoming a lot more popular and they are just jealous lol.

THE DECLARATION OF WAR
It is thanks to some of the videos here that people buy dvds of anime.
So crunchyroll is promoting anime instead of destroying the anime genre

Sorry for not having $20-30 to waste on 4 episodes each.
$200-300 for an entire show? I'm sorry, but that is just BS.
Other TV shows place the same amount of episodes for around $60, now THAT is fair.
Actually, it's more length. Say, 26 episodes of a one-hour show for $60. Yet in the anime world that $60 will buy me 8 half-hour episodes?
26 hours of show > 4 hours of show.

Bottom line: anime fans are getting ripped off when they buy DVDs and I in no way can afford it. I own one whole series on DVD, and have a DVD here or there for other series, so I do support the show by buying the DVD, but the way they are priced... it is insane, I don't have that kind of money. At all.

I support illegal downloads because maybe it will make the anime industry take the prices down a little bit and sell their shows like the other people. For fair prices.

If any of these companies do happen to be spying on crunchyroll and sees this, TAKE DOWN YOUR PRICES.

I have 2 more things to say/points to make.

You know, I really couldn't care less if the American Anime Industry falls apart and is destroyed. I know, dubs may sometimes suck, but they are important and the only way 90% of americans learn about new and different anime.
Well, I don't care. I'm selfish. It's all about me.
Personally, I learn about and watch anime as it comes out in Japan, as I am sure most of you do as well.
So, this doesn't really phase me much, I'm getting it directly from the country of origin, which is legal, by the way, until they bring it here.
There was something about their tone as well that I didn't like.
They made it seem like if the US anime market loses money because less people are buying their DVDs, then there will be no more anime and they are doing this for the fans to try and save the anime culture.
Which is BS, as we all know. They don't even make the anime, they just voice over it in another language. If the US anime market suffers from little profit, it will have no effect on the Japanese market, which is where anime really shines and comes from in the first place.

Besides, maybe if they want us to buy the DVDs, they will stop ripping us off.
Does anyone realize how seriously cheap it is for them to give us 4 episodes and call it a DVD and make us pay $20-30 for it?
I've bought full-season 24 episode DVDs for other live-action TV shows for about $50-60. That will only buy me 8 episodes in the anime DVD world. I'll have to pay around $200 if I want the whole series.
That is ridiculous, and that is why we download and stream even if it is available on DVD.

Like I said before, I do support the buying of the DVD. I do it for shows I like and suggest you do the same.
But until they stop ripping us off, I can't really argue against those that don't.
It's just another example of greedy marketing.

Totally agree. I rather buy my anime from Japan than the DVDs here in America which can cost an arm and leg. The only reason they are bitching and moaning about this is because they know the fan base for anime here in America is rapidly growing faster than the past 10 years or so and they're just trying to capitalize on it to make some bucks on us. so support your anime love buy just buying the DVDs from Japan and watching it online. with that said, there is nothing to worry about people.

ITs all just greed on their part, maybe if they started working together with sites like this so they can promote Anime in America and their sales would go up, we would get to keep watching free anime, they would still make money, and everyone would be happy. Like when youtube got in trouble, many of the tv networks that complained about their shows being posted on youtube started providing them online afterwards. Like i watch LOST if i missed it on abc's website. Its not like we can watch a whole lot of Anime on TV, so why dont they make the internet their new medium instead of shutting down every good site that comes along. For one how do FUNimation and BANDAI think they get most of their customers, how would most Americans know which Anime they like if it werent for the free online sites. TV networks are only taking baby steps to show Anime, and I dont know about some people but personally i prefer to read subtitles than to hear it in American.

Why is bandai joining in? Is their anmie business that big? Their model kit and novelty business depends on people watching anime, if less people watch = less potential business.
