FF8 is my favorite out of the FF series. I think its one of the most underrated FF in the series. Even though the battle system was different and ok, the story line was great! Squall and Rinoa were just meant to be. The other characters in the game were also great. Most FFs have a side game such as FF7 Chocobo Racing/Casino, FF8 Card game (the best side game), FF10 Blitzball. Theres a lot I could say, but I want to hear other people's opinions.

I loved the whole GF system; getting cards with them and creating items with GF abilities and vice-versa. Also the best way to get money.

I think Final Fantasy VIII is quite underrated too. It was just difficult to follow VII (which is very popular and was a very strong game); in my opinion, I do think that Final Fantasy VIII was one of the stronger Final Fantasy games. And yes, the card game was probably the most addicting side-quest/minigames in the entire series.

VII was good and I liked it, but I think its overrated. Everyone is all over that game and I'm like, "It's good, but how is it so damn great?" I'm just curious to know how FF7 is the best. Is it because an actual character died unlike any other FF game? Well back to VIII thinking back to the card game, I recently loaded an old file on disc 1 where you are in Timber helping out Rinoa blah blah blah, and I'm just playing cards the whole time lol. The cards are important so you can use the card mod ability to get special items. BTW I have all the cards from level 1-8 and all of the GFs, Mini Mog, and Character Cards as possible being about half way through disc one lol.

Balamb Garden's a great place to start collecting cards from levels 1-5 and Timber's a nice place to put a little bow on cards level 6-8. And yeah, character and GF cards get thrown in there too. I think PuPu is the only card that you absolutely cannot get until you have the Ragnarok on Disc 3.

In my opinion, Final Fantasy VIII is one of the greatest rpg games ever made, but when talking about side-quests, i think chocobo hot&cold (ff9) is the best.

FF VIII is a great game, and like I said before, I think FFVII is over rated. I think people were really moved with how Aeris died. Anyways why is FF7 so great? That's what I want to know. FFVIII is still the best in my opinion.

Well, Final Fantasy VII is my favorite because of the story, of course..
I think FF7 just got RPG into a new era, because it was the first Final Fantasy that made people become sad about a character (i'll not talk about Galuf, in Final Fantasy V, in my opinion he was just an Guest, but he was great too!), and it was the first time i've seen a protagonist with so many questions about his past, and all of then where answered (well, at least the greatest part of them).
I think the story of Final Fantasy VIII is great too, as you can see is one of my favorites, but you get tired of reading "Time compression" every time there's a conversation (of course, from the third CD).
Anyway, i still count Battle System and all, i think Final Fantasy VIII has a great battle system, with the junctions, and all that, even greater than the battle system of Final Fantasy VII, but like i said, story counts first to me, so thats why FF7 is my favorite.

FF7 was the like the ultimate FF game from the whole series. i just loved the whole story except at the ending. and i think the characters were very well developed with each have their own strengths and flaws.
my fav character out the game was well Squall of course but i really love Zell(one of the few if not only character who uses his fists as weapons).
i remember countless hours wasted over the summer brake back in the day......hours that were dam well worth it!!!

FF7 was the one that most pro related to reality course the characters had to go through same experiences as normal ppl(Barret lost his wife, Cid had his dream of going to outer space dashed...) not forgetting that Aeris HAD to die... At least finally a game where a character or more experiences heartbreaks...it seems that almost everyone u play had something real in their past... But then again FF8 was good too although 7 was a little better but MAN the card game! I was hooked onto it! hard to play by the random rules though...

I really like FF VIII because of the relationship between Squall and Rinoa. I think the storyline is great for FF VIII, though I really do hate the draw system but it was unique in a way. I didn't really bother with the chocobo until I really wanted to get the ragnarok back again. As for the card system, it is really addicting but losing one of my best cards was always a pain in the ass and I do have to agree with you that FF VII IS really overrated. I think what really made me fall in love with FF VII was the depth of the characters, not so much the storyline. Plus it was the the first RPG game I was really serious about. Now back to FF VII in truth, Squall is way to depressing for my taste, but luckily Rinoa is there to set him straight. Lol.
