The "manga" style is just an overarching term for the Asian style of drawing. Different countries have different subterms for it. Manga is japanese, manwha is korean, there is a term for the chinese variant and so as there is for the southeast pacific. Although all/most the names come or are derived from chinese. (Apparently from my korean friends, there is another term for manga/manwha in korean that most commonly used, but manwha is what the "outside market" calls it) Manwha is a chinese word, my parents call all these anime/manga styles manwha in general. (They're around 60 so no influence from the recent years and titles/classifications) Bizenghast technically isn't manga, its designed to be of a similar art style, but doesn't originate from Asia.

Manga can come from any country. It is just a name for a form of comics, aka Graphic Novels.

Manga is technically "comics" but just a more complicated and detailed version, [And way better btw] Although manga isn't always grouped into the comics section, it is a comic. And any comic is manga too, its both ways. But its just that people don't really consider manga created by a American artist/author, manga. Its just like with the word "popular", means well liked, but we define it differently in our minds.

Yes. Simply because manga is what comic books/graphic novels are called in Japan. Just like how you wouldn't called a Korean manhwa a manga or a Chinese manhua a manga. They're all still comic books, it's just that Japanese ones are called manga.

This.

Manga is just the Japanese word for comic book. And comic book has many different names in many different languages, therefore it doesn't have to be from Japan to be 'manga'. I could call Spider man and Batman manga, because they are comic books, see?

I went to Chapters, a bookstore, just yesterday, and the 'manga' section is right next to the american graphic novels and such. I think manga's just popular cause it's crazy creative and different.

I use different names for different countries.

Comics - US
Manga- Japan
Manhua - Chinese
Manhwa - Korean
Manhoa - Philippines?
Fumetti - Italian

In the end, comics is comics. However, the 'manga' style was originally Japanese so I pretty much stick with manga for Japan and the rest manga influenced....
