well i think mrtictac is wrong. they're mostly inactive so wats the point? and u know they can make a new one! theres no reason to not to. i mean they're just trying to help us not destroy us. i dont know why UR getting angry because u dont have 30-35 characters! those people are mostly inactive or they spam but maybe some will be good. but they can always make new accts!

^RealJudgement_Mohinder: Don't worry, it won't because you're more active and it's under 30 characters.
Isn't kind of stupid to try and copy down someone's name that goes for-f*cking-ever? Some people don't know how to copy/paste, let alone "Print Screen".
I think it's a way to prevent getting reported.

well there was a previous account that had 80 letters in the username and that's WAY too much.

I suppose you have a point. names that longs are a bit unreasonable
Posted 8/27/07
personally people with a really long name, regardless of it being 30 characters or
more are really annoying in the chat. It throws it off.

granted that u said most of these people ur talking about have 0 pts and dont access
the chat, but there are those with stupidly long names and it becomes distracting in the
chat.

so I see a need for this thread.

There wasn't a limit before? O_o

Well, I think it's insane that people would actually make those long usernames...

35 characters is just ridiculous. And if you're really mad about all the names being taken, use one with lots of adjectives! When I signed up for Quizilla, my normal names (LegendKitsune, KitsuneMitsukai and KitsuneAngel) were all taken. So what did I do? Added my favorite color and favorite weather. BOOM! SilverSnowKitsune. Under 20 characters, and there's a 99% certainty no one else will have a name like that. You just need to be creative.

so why are u even mentioning the page getting stretched

when 90% of those havent even done anything at all

seeing the page get stretched one day by 1 post, then suddenly deciding to delete mass accts, isnt that making a big deal out of nothing

isnt it better to just leave the present accts alone, theyre not even doing anything, u dont need to do any work at all, should just focus on the future made accts who have potential to do harm

I'm rectifying a problem that can be abused by users. No one needs a username that's over 35 characters long. All of the ones with 0-5 Cr points can and will make new accounts without much of a problem since they havent lost anything. If they wanted to be social on the site, they wouldnt have those long random names in the first place.

Only one of the people in question even replied to my PM. Seriously, having 0 CR points means they didnt even bother to verify their email. If these people used the site more than once, they would keep seeing that message til they verified. This just goes to show that these accounts are unnecessary.

This announcement wasn't for other's to discuss what they think, it was to notify people why their account was deleted (if the account was deleted before they even bothered to read my PM), and notify others not to make accounts with long usernames.

Kind of crude don't you think? ~Just an example: They could have their account for a long while, then all of a sudden get a message saying its gonna be deleted.~ Unless I'm missing something where you can change your Username. I don't think thats kinda fair.

itis but it's not like we have a choice so I think it's better to just comply.

I agree.

From a practical standpoint, it doesn't make sense to have an account with such a long username. Just by looking at these accounts (if you've seen one), it more or less looks like it was created just for the sake of spamming (or leeching). They usually have no avatar, hardly any CR points, nothing placed in their About me! section, and if they're not recently made, they're pretty old, so it looks like no activity has happened much with regard to the user that created the account.

And in many respects, it isn't a big deal for profiles like this to get deleted. They might as well just make a new one, since there's very little to begin with before it was deleted.

And as with what Azngrace said, we do take into consideration several things before nuking an account. Sending them a PM, for one thing, is one of the measures we do to see if the account really is active. Plus, it's better to warn them in advance than just nuke them with no warning whatsoever.

EDIT:
Here's a prime example:
Andy88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

that name is a user.. right?
