I've been wanting to get a camcorder for a while now, but I dunno which one to get. The latest one I found is a Samsung Q10 and I like it a lot. I also like Toshiba SX900.

I'd like to know if anyone here has/had experience with cams and can tell me which is the recommended one to buy. Thanks in advance. (:

Hi guys!

My friends and I are making a band and we need help coming up with a good band name! Here is some info on us:

1. We are four girls
2. We use the following instruments: voice, alto saxophone, flute, piccolo, ocarina (Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time replica)
3. We plan on covering videogame music and anime music.
4. We plan on wearing lolita (of all different types - one gothic, one punk, one sweet, and one wah type) for public performances. We plan on performing at anime-expo, comic con, and other public-performance-allowed events.

The only good one we came up with so far is "The Four Winds" since we're only playing wind-instruments (in my highschool saxophones were classified as wind, not brass) but that's a hotel name also, so we don't want to do that. Any ideas?

BTW I have a picture of my saxophone at the bottom of the post in this link: http://www.crunchyroll.com/user/ryugexu/pages/altosax which I share because I'm very happy about having it.

okay, another laptop problem...

my toshiba laptop always hang when not in use of like 30 minutes but this only happen when it is charging. It doesn't really hang when it's not charging. so yeah, when the screensaver or when it's already black [since it's idle for like 30 mins.] and when I move the mouse, of course the screensaver would disappear and go back to normal but after 10 seconds, there will be a "toot" sound [don't know how to describe it, lol] and it will hang up.

I already asked this to a store and I don't really know the details since they talked to my dad. what I heard is it will cost us P7000 to repair it O___o

and don't recommend me buying a new one since I already have a new netbook and I can't use it often due to some personal reasons.

Ask your father about what they said.... I am not sure how much is P7000 but if it's a hundred range it's prolly to replace a faulty hardware of your Toshiba... But you can check around your laptop for basic troubleshooting if it could fix ur problem (or prevent future related problems)

1.) Clean your laptop's cooling fan (such as compressed air aka aerosol... u can find it in a electronic store) for any dust or other debris that can affect ventaliation in the computer... Becuz if ur computer doesn't vent properly it could led to hardware failures due to overheating

2.) Check for viruses... Always a factor since viruses can pretty much do anything to your comp to give you all sorts of headaches

3.) Defrag your hard drive, your computer will be able to run smoother and faster (my choice other then the windows defragger is Auslogic disk defrag... it's free btw)

4.) Check your hard disk for any errors... Go to start menu and under the search bar type in "cmd" then right click it, and click "run as administartor" ....then once it shows a black box, type in "chkdsk"

Other factors

Your computer doesn't have enough memory (RAM) to support ur usage of the comp.. meaning that if you install memory hogging programs in your comp. it could be the reason why it hangs.. For example I tried to install AVG linkscanner (standalone) onto my comp, and I immediate saw a big slowdown (also hang) in my comps performance... For this you need to increase your comp's memory or uninstall any unneccesary memory hogging programs (be careful if ur going to do this)

Btw the "tooting" sound when you move ur mouse to exit the screen save is normal, since your laptop is trying to get out of idle state n get back to ur original page (usually processing sound of a running comp booting up from a idle state)... Now if it's "tooting" loud and constantly (like it's like going to explode) then it's most likely a hardware failure... Also if your going to make a comp idle for 30 mins it's better to put it in sleep mode then on screensaver mode, because screensaver's purpose it to protect the comp's monitor for a short period of time but it taxes ur comp if u leave it on in a long period of time... Sleep mode however put's ur computer in a low power state and quickly resume in what you were doing when u get out of sleep mode... Overall if ur going to be on idle on a short period of time 5-15 mins then use the screensaver, but it's more then 15 mins then put it in sleep mode (ur comp will thank you lol)

P.S. When you have a comp problem (hardware related stuff), you usually have to provide the laptop's name (in some cases, but usually not needed) processor, ram, how old is it, and also when the problem occured (comp. program are different, u need more info such as logs n such)... So it can help the person trying to help you better =)..

Why not just get a digital camera? A lot of the new ones record movies in HD. Granted, you may not get the zoom of a camcorder but I prefer cameras over camcorders. I bought a camcorder about six years ago but I hardly used it. I was more likely to just use my small digital camera to take either still photos or movies. The little point in shoot camera I had was easy to carry around in a pocket. I recently bought a new Canon PowerShot ELPH 500 HS, which is roughly in the price range of one the camcorders you were looking at. It has a very good sensor, and shoots movies in HD 1080p.

A good friend of mine prefers the Panasonic Lumix line because they have Leica lenses. I am partial to Canon because I think the sensor is better than the Panasonic, and outweighs the benefit of a slightly better (I think) Panasonic lenses.

The only issue that I can think of is sound recording off of a camera as opposed to a camcorder. If I recall, the camcorder sound was not that great anyway. If you want good sound, you may want to buy a separate mic for either the camcorder or camera. For the camera you may have to check if it can use an external mic.

One last thing, you can probably get good prices on any of these from Amazon, B&H or J&R. I buy from all of them. If you really get serious about movie recording, B&H's seasonal catalog will get you drooling.

I'd recommend the Kodak>Play Sports camcorder. It's full HD and very lightweight.
