The story WAS good, it's not anymore. Book four was ok, but book five just sucked and book six was even worse (I just read it at my brother's insistence and I wish I hadn't) ... I don't want to find out what book seven is going to be like...

I think the new title is kinda cheesy, but alas "Don't judge a book by it's cover"! Even though the books did get "darker" or more "emo" as some of you say, I think it was needed! If you found out that you had to kill someone or they were going to kill you, your godfather (the only REAL father figure you've had) died, wouldn't you be a little angsty? The angst all comes from a 15-17 year old too so it's not like it's unexpected. I think it would WAY worse if everything always went 100% happy and according to plan. Hell there'd be no series.

As for killing "everyone" off. It's reality. It's a war, people you love die, but you have to keep going, exacty what Harry is doing.

:/ Unfortunately.

I had hoped that we wouldn't be subjected to that again, but after hearing the title, I'm led to believe otherwise.

^ Props.

As for people dyin' and stuff... The series has taken such a serious swoop from the happy-go-lucky first books that it'd be pretty laughable if, in the last book, all the character's get together and play duck duck goose with the death eaters to see who can take over the world. Yes, people will die in war. That has been a pretty dominant theme throughout. The last time widdle Voldemort went joyriding through Europe, there was so much more doom, if you recall.

Here are my predictions, and as embarrassed as I am, I'll be giddy as a schoolgirl for about five minutes if they all come true.

1. Snape, he's not such a bad guy. He is still a phoenix fighter at heart and is gonna help Harry in the end. And then there'll be a whole "redemption" element plotline. But Snape'll get dementorr'd anyway.

2. Neville is so gonna kill Voldemort. Rowlings isn't gonna wanna deal with giving Harry the power to take life. Author's get all squeamish when they raise their characters from little babes... they don't want to make a normal person kill. Neville, he is already all fucked up, and he is gonna be the fallboy. Plus, it'll take paparazzi pressure off of Harry.

3. Dumbledore will die. Oh, wait...

4. Harry's right hand will turn into a little girl with green hair. And she will kill Dumbledore again when he returns as a zombie to blow up the death star.

5. Gilderoy Lockheart will come back again. Just so Ron can kill him with his bare hands. And that makes your two deaths.

I would love to see Lockhart again. I wouldn't want him to die, though.

EDIT: the whole reason I revived this thread was because the release date was announced. I edited the first post with the date.

EDIT: The book is being released on Harry's birthday, July 31st. That's a splendid idea, but I had been hoping for a 07/07/07 release.

After watching the movies with my niece all signs point to the death of harry potter. Another sign is that in a interview it was stated that Stephen king even tried to talk her out of killing harry off.
