How does the chick come out of the egg without being sat on by the chicken? The egg would just die...

Well it all depends on your view of how the world was created. If you believe in creation then chicken. If you believe in evolution then its the egg since the needed mutations and all that to create the chicken occur in the egg not as a fully grown chicken. I personally think the egg came first since I prefer to combine religion with science, aka God created the whole evolution system and all that.
