yup, it's true! the popular manga has reached it's 3rd level highest with the live action Korean Version of the ever-so-popular Hana Yori Dango series.

"After the mega popularity of Meteor Garden first in Taiwan back in 2001 and then subsequently Hana Yori Dango in Japan in recent years, Korea is also set to have its very own version of Meteor Garden in 2008.

Popular Japanese anime, Hana Yori Dango will be adapated into a Korean drama. The Taiwanese and Japanese version of the television drama has achieved phenomenal ratings during its run and the Japanese version which was shown on cable television achieved pretty good ratings and earning lots of fans in the process. The company which will be producing this is Group Eight whose previous works were Goong: Princess Hours and Fantasy Couple. The Japanese rights holder decided to work with Group Eight after learning about it’s production capability after viewing Goong S.

By releasing this exciting news first, Group Eight has created lots of anticipation and hype over who will be taking the roles ahead of the actual casting. Many netizens in fact are already posting and discussing furiously over who their ideal cast should be since the news broke yesterday.

With regards to the Korean F4, the production team revealed, “We will be choosing based on their similarities with the anime characters. We won’t be choosing based on how popular or how well-known they are.” The Korean version of Hanayori Dango is set at 24 episodes, each clocking in at 70 minutes and will be shown on television in the latter part of 2008."


~Personally, I don't think it'll be THAT great of an idea. I think the Hana Yori Dango trend has become a bit loyal to the Japanese version. but hey, I'm not saying the Korean version isn't gonna be great. I am actually looking forward to how the Koreans are gonna develop their own style with the story. But of course, you can never stop the controversy of fans thinking one is better than the other as they have done comparing HANA YORI DANGO and METEOR GARDEN. I guess, this will just add fuel to the fire, but what can I say, this series is one of the greatest I have ever seen. Maybe adopting it into something new will be good. We'll all just have to wait to find out, huh? (: Just goes to show, that Hana Yori Dango whether it be Japanese, Taiwanese, or Korean, fans will always love the drama no matter what. I know I will! *;D

i hope that this series will turn out great. They have a lot of pressure put on them because of the previous meteor garden and hana yori dango. If they don't do well it will put korean dramas to shame; and i personally think koreans have some very good and don't forget famous dramas.
CASTING
i think that they should just get new actors/actresses because right now even though there are some excellent famous actors/ actresses i still don't think that can play the roles of f4 and the girl.
but one thing i can say for sure i that whoever gets the roles is very lucky because eveyone who watched meteor garden and hana yori dango (which is a lot), is going to become very very very and i mean very famous not only in Korea, but in a lot of other countries.

Well HONESTLY i would like to say... it DOES sound interesing BUT a korean version?!

it's PRETTY MUCH like a copyy version! i would prefer for it to be ONLY a jap version.

but it's just my opinion... it's kinda getting exaggerated in the hana yori dango how there are OTHER versions !! ... i think that HANAZAWA RUI can not be replaced.. && MAKINO can not be replaced && Doumyouji can not be replaced BY THE KOREAN CAST!! the JAPANESE ARE jst soo unforgetable !!

the japanese cast has the best people along wiht great characters and acting with good chemistry && aslo great filming && great places. it's simplyy too good =]

but then again... yu never know..... since they are based on the same storyline.... soo we jst have to wait && see

umm i sure hope too ! but like i said up the top.... jap version is simplyy too good so to beat it must ahve good looking charaters and great places along with good acting! =]

I'm sure I'll love it since I love the series in general. I say YEH should get Makino as she's a great actress and would be able to capture the poor chick with a fighting spirit and sense of humour aspect of Makino.

Cant wait for it .. Even though the jap version will always be better :P
