If we ran out of power for all of our advanced technology, what would you do?

Ever see "the Postman" with Kevin Costner? Remember General Bethlehem? Yeah, I'd turn into him. Raise an army and rebuild, that's me.

But in all reality, it is pretty easy for a power grid to go down. In war, it is usually one of the first targets. Countries like the US and Japan, which have not really seen war on local soil since WWII might have a difficult time understanding this, but it is quite possible for power to go away. Even storms can cause such events. I was without power outside of Seattle for 6 days a few years back. It is important to know how to live without. I recommend that everyone do some boy scout/girl scout/survival training of some type. Economies, power grids, water supplies are all complex systems which can and have been disrupted -- even in modern times -- in several areas. Little things like knowing how candles can produce enough heat to keep you alive and what material of blankets will still keep you warm when wet (wool) are important skills.

When I was without power for days at a time I had firewood, gas stove, a few gallons of water in the closet just in case, and a shelf with some canned food. Between the gas stove, canned food, and my bookshelf, things were fine. I never lost my water. It really wasn't a big deal. Annoying, but not a big deal.

were just talking about a power outage people not the nuclear apocalypse. but i can guarantee if we ran out of fuel and coal for our power you'd see a ton more solar panels and wind turbines. So all in all you'd only have to live like people in the heart of africa for like 1-2 weeks tops.

Read books, Go fishing, use a nearby waterfall to construct a generator of some sort, kill some grizzly bears bear handed (pun intended) for meat, reign over a new society that has lost its way in this new world. Ya know the typical sort of thing.

I imagine it would take a while to get enough solar panels and wind turbines made. A company I know of in my town manufactures turbine parts uses "computer assisted manufacturing" and that requires electricity. I would assume mass producing solar panels might need electricity as well. This is assuming that workers can stay sane and produce said wind turbines and panels. But you never know, maybe the government stored 10 billion wind turbines and solar panels under the ocean.

lmao. our society is too "addicted" to energy. we aren't going to lose power in such a vast scale unless there IS some kind of apocalypse.
