Already finished it months ago. But I'm still upset about it. You can't be original anymore. Everything keeps getting licensed.

I'm actually quite excited that Haruhi got licensed. I would like to have some nice quality DVDs of the series, as opposed to home-burned fansubs. And as Azrael910 pointed out, series boxsets in the US are dirt cheap, especially compared to Japanese releases. The first Haruhi DVD will have the first four episodes with extras, and will retail for around $30. The first Japanese Haruhi DVD has only the first episode, and costs the equivalent of around $50 US. So stop complaining, be happy that a show you like has been recognised as being of worth, and go support the damn industry!

^Sorry pal, as much as I like this anime, 40 bucks AUD is not worth 80 minutes or so of Anime. Not on my pay that is...

you cheap selfish people disgust me

anime isn't a fucking a right, it's a product so don't bitch and moan like a bunch of spoiled fucking bastards when something gets licenced. if you can't afford it boo fucking hoo. i can't afford a new car, does that mean i'm entitled to steal one? of course it fucking doesn't. i'm not entitled to steal one because i don't feel like paying for it, or i think they're too expensive. you haven't contributed a god damn fucking thing and you all act like you're being robbed.

you can still download the damned thing on bit torrent anyways, it's not like they picked it up in the middle of broadcast (like they did with deathnote which i think was pretty shitty on their part), the whole thing has been fansubbed and will continue to be available online through the usual sources. if you really dig around i bet you can still find it streaming somewhere too.

what the fuck do you mean "you can't be original anymore?" that's how the anime industry in america works - they license and distribute ANIME. if it wasn't from japan (and by your assessment unoriginal), then it wouldn't even be anime in the first place. i can assure you that you would rather have american companies (and american branches of japanese companies) distributing it than some of the japanese ones.

the only time i think it's bad when something is licensed is when they license it before it finishes being fansubbed/air in japan. that's like slapping the anime subculture in the face in my oppinion. after that, it's fair game by my standards.

i hope they dont ruin their voices

They are actually doing the dub in a surprisingly logical manner: they are letting fans choose the voice actors. Kinda.
On the ASOS Brigade website, they posted voice clips of different possible voice actors for each character, and had the fans vote for their favorite. To tell the truth, some of the choices were pretty terrible, but I think it will at least be preferable to the usual chronic miscasting so well-known to American viewers.
