How come 300 is san-byaku and not like 100 and 200, san-hyaku?

because 300 san-byaku (special) :)
even 600 also special... roppyaku!hehehehe

you read it as ni-ju-go...
you see... the rule when you read numbers is like this....

10+5 ------------> ju-go

and when you get to numbers 20+

the rule so that you could remember is ......

2x10 --------------> ni-ju

3x10 --------------> san-ju

to add numbers you can put it as this....

2x10+5 ----------- wc makes it --------> ni-ju-go

ni-ni is 2 2 not 22?...22 is二十二 ni-jū-ni im rin miss hayo0?>.<

i've been learning japanese numbers just recently.

There are also some other ways of counting. My Jap prof told me this is the Japanese way. And the ichi, ni, san.. is the Chinese way. Haha. (?)

well there's decimals
"ten" means "point"
um...for example, 3.5 is "santen go", 15.342 is "jugoten sanyonni"
...im not really good at explaining
