http://videogames.yahoo.com/feature/seven-ways-to-win-back-your-gaming-spouse/1194632

this article just amused me on so many levels

First because I've seen examples of where gaming hurts relationships, second because I'm a gamer myself and can laugh at this, and third but most of all....because WoW was what killed the marriage they use as an example XD

We all know that sometimes gamers can get a bit excessive in their playing, but do you think it's right that women (mostly, but maybe men too) should avoid dating men (or women) who love to play video games?

or is this just a laughable matter?

I LOLed so hard my stomach hurts!!

Games is not the main concern here rather one's sense of responsibility. If you're a responsible gamer then you'd know what your priorities are and what to do with them.

As I always think and say to myself, "Addiction is usually just an excuse people use". If you know that you're getting hooked to something (in this case, games) and/or is already hooked to that something (in this case, games) then chances are, you are not yet addicted to it and is just using addiction as an escape goat.

By the way, I'm also a gamer who spends 3 to 18 hours a day playing games and on some occasion even plays up to 30 hours straight and I always have room for my school, work and social life.

yeah i thought it was pretty funny too

my boyfriend and I both play games a lot so it's more so common ground for us

it just reminded me of a while ago when we were talking about Brawl coming out (he's been foaming at the mouth to play it) and he specifically stated that he'd still make sure he had time for me lol

so i guess i got off lucky

*dies* 3.. Fake a power outage; cuddle up with candles and a board game....a classic. XD

Anyway, it's funny to read, but sad that so many are losing loved ones. I mean I love games just as much as the next girl, but nothing beats being held by a real guy.

XD 3's my favorite too

real guys > game guys, that's a definite

now if you can cuddle while playing games with your boyfriend, that can be fun too

Always! But it can turn out and that's a totally different topic.

And I just showed this to my mom,

Mom: Wtf is this?
Rin: It's gamer's losing their loved ones.
Mom: Great, you mean to tell me my daughter is going alone thanks to this ****?
Rin: Mom...there's still college and afterward. Plus all the good guys are either gay or taken.
Mom: Oh god...kill me now.

I nearly died.

Only real losers, who are married, would pick a game over their spouse. If the love isn't there, don't waste their time. DUH. I hate inconsiderate individuals who are in a relationship treating the other party like that (that is if they are trying to salvage what is left).

I have my moments too when I am playing my games (like yesterday for instance =P). I would tell him "when I am done, then I will see you." Why? Because he would be out with his friends drinking till they see the sun of the next day. And this usually happens when his buddy (or his buddies from out of state) that lives 45 minutes (or many miles) away who works all week except for one or two days (or on a short break), so I let it slide and let him be and play my games, read, watch t.v., or get LOTS of rest.

But yea, in regards to this article, some were pretty funny and desperate at the same time. If the gamer isn't willing to make the effort in the relationship too, then it is time for the other party to go.

IMO, it's a laughable matter. I can understand gaming addictions, seeing as how I'm a pretty hardcore gamer myself, but to choose a game over something real is just pathetic. You've gotta set some lines for yourself: make priorities and start managing time. If the dude isn't willing to put some effort in the relationship just because of a game (which makes him a loser), then there's pretty much nothing there.

i know this is in the games section, but this kind of reminded me of something i read in this Manga called: I Otaku struggle in akihabara

anyways, the main character gets to know the owner of this otaku shop, and the owner finds out that the guy has a girlfriend. But the owner thinks that to be a true otaku, you must dedicate yourself to the anime and the characters
so he constantly gets on his case for dating a "three dimensional" XD

Like i said, not exactly about games, but i thought it tied in

Wahahaha, that was hilarious! But on the serious side... picking a video game over your spouse, that is just dumb..
