ISWAK was bad to begin with and the sequel is even worse.
Its long, drawn out and pathetically repetitive. I only fast forward to see Arron and Chun Mei's scenes together.. each episode takes me about five minutes to watch

And is it just me, or does a lot of it feel like its being made on home video or something??

The sequel is more romantic than the first season. But the first season is funnier than the Sequel. I like both of them...

I understand where you are coming from. Some people just don't see the humor in it, so the drama drags for them. For some reason, the characters in the original story line won my heart and it became entertaining watching them. The sequel was also entertaining because the story line revolved around a new group of friends and other problems instead of Xiang Qin's (Ariel) contant addiction to Zhi Shu (Joe). Jiro Wang was great in the original, but I'm glad he wasn't (a big role) in the sequel, because it would have ruined my applause for him in the original (dragging his obsession with Xiang Qin for too long). The sequel is actually there for fans who loved ISWAK. So if you didn't like the original, then I don't think you would like the sequel. Then again, you are fast forwarding it for Arron and Chun Mei's scenes (therefore, technically, you're not watching TKA).

I think the new cast brings a new flavor to the story, a bright happy feeling just like the old cast (who pops up every now and then). But I still love the original best. This sequel is not bad (considering how bad sequels generally are).

The original storyline of ISWAK is precisely what I had a problem with. Which really sucks because personally I think Ariel, Joe and Jiro all played their roles really really well. Good acting and stuff, but I guess the drama really brings out the feminist in me (and I'm not normally like that), since Xiang Qin shamelessly chases after Zhi Shu, she has no dignity at all, which really upset me.
The majority of Asian dramas are a little bit sexist but ISWAK really took it to the max. I guess I can see why people would think its sweet, but I'm not sure why I had to sit through 19 episodes spanning three or four years for Zhi Shu to accept Xiang Qin.

I was actually kind of looking forward to TKA because I thought it would be better than the first, since Zhi Shu and Xiang Qin are already married and stuff. I didn't expect a 180-degree change in ZS but at least I thought he would treat XQ a little nicer?
Mainly what I'm getting at is that TKA should have been focused on something else.. a different plot, which it sort of is, but we still get XQ-ZS drama (XQ doing something, ZH getting mad, giving her the cold shoulder, XQ crying, them making up) every other episode, which is what makes the drama drag.

Xiang Qin is very simple minded. She also grew up in a very nurturing environment. True, it does seem like she has no dignity when she chases after Zhi Shu, but that is also something that is very admirable about her character is ISWAK. But I heard a lot of criticism from my friends who refuse to finish the drama because her obsession with him seems to just repeat itself and drag the story on. I envy her honesty and courage when confessing and putting up with Zhi Shu. It's hard for us to do that because pride and sense makes us use our minds more than our hearts. That's why she's so loveable, she wears her heart on her sleeve (does not think before she acts or speak). You know she's sincere.

As for the feminism part, I do want to hear your take on it. There are so many people we claim to be feminist, but do what degree? Do you find it degrading when guys treat you like a princess, or do just find it degrading when guys disrespect you and treat you unfairly, or do you find it insulting that guys treat you differently because you are a girl? Which is the case? Because, to me, feminism just seem to be another label. I wanted to be respected like an individual, but I enjoy be treating like a princess.

Admittingly, he does love Xiang Qin. But he's not the lovey-dovey husband. She married him knowing this about him. ISWAK dwelled on dating (which they really didn't do, but the chase is still there [on XQ's part at least]). TKA dwells on married life and the future. XQ's tears are basically from insecurity, b/c she has always lacked confidence towards ZS affection towards her. But he's the reliable type that shows his affection for her behind curtains (by doing things for/thinking about her without her knowledge). He doesn't treat her badly, but she always wants to be reassured that he loves her.
