Nanoha receives Raging Heart from the injured Yuuno and met the girl called Fate, but was unable to save her as the Garden of Time collapsed. Chrono and Yuuno fought alongside her during the Book of Darkness incident. The Book of Darkness is sealed along with Hayate, Shamal, Vita and Zafira which was incredibly traumatic to Nanoha as she watches Hayate cry out in fear and sadness overtakes her as Chrono freezes her alive. Later on Nanoha becomes an enforcer for a brief period of time. But after seeing even more cruel and brutal tactics employed by the TSAB, her resolve faded and her regrets over the loss of Fate and Hayate grew. Raging Heart became more and more difficult to use and she resigned.

Returning home, Nanoha learned to wield a sword from her father and siblings, becoming their equals by the age of 15. At this point, she is no longer able to use Raging Heart as she had too much regret. Even possessing it became an immense magical burden, stressing her body and turning her hair into a reddish pink color. It was returned to Yuuno, who had returned to his homeworld and is living peacefully. After receiving a basic storage device – enough for Nanoha to perform basic magic attacks – she renamed herself as Signum and became a traveler, aiding those in need. As she fought the TSAB time and time again, she realized that she couldn’t save anyone without sacrificing anyone else, and she began to kill the Enforcers sent after her. Signum earned the nickname: Crimson Devil in the TSAB and in other advanced world, she was considered as an outlaw.

Shortly before her 21st birthday, the TSAB had used an Arc-ce-Ciel on a world that was deemed too advanced and destroyed the entire population along with the planet. As a result, war broke out. Numerous worlds decided to take up arms against the TSAB. It was a hopeless battle, but Signum couldn’t let more worlds be destroyed in the same way, and in desperation slipped into the dimensional rift that contained the Book of Darkness. Once there she made a pact and in return for the ability to stop the TSAB’s advance, she would serve the Book of Darkness as a Guardian Knight upon her death. As proof of the pact, Signum was given the Demonic Sword – Levantine, a fitting blade for the Crimson Devil.

With the power of the Book of Darkness behind her, the TSAB fleet stood no chance against the rebelling worlds. However, she learned that Chrono was the one commanding the TSAB fleet. Not wanting to loose another comrade, she asked for a cease-fire in attempt to return to her old ways as Nanoha and find a peaceful solution for both sides. However, Chrono was the one who ordered the destruction of the first world and not knowing Signum’s true identity took her prisoner. After destroying the remnants of the rebelling worlds, he had her executed. Moments before Signum’s death, the Book of Darkness absorbed her. With the book’s immense power, she was sent to the time of Alhazard as one of the Guardian Knights.

*Sometime in the timeline, the Belka Knights remembered that they were in service of a princess before they died and were absorbed by the Book of Darkness. However, Signum was the only one not able to remember her past.

Nanoha receives Ranging Heart from the injured Yuuno and met the girl called Fate, and saves her from the Garden of Time before it collapsed. Fate and Ark fought along side her during the Book of Darkness incident. Signum, having grown cold from the experiences in her life and in her service of the Book of Darkness, led the Wolkenntirer against her past friends… and herself.

The rest is history. In the end all of this sorta makes sense. It’s up to you if you want to believe it or not. Why Signum is Fate’s rival, why she wishes she could had been friends if it were a different time, when notes that when Fate changes her Barrier Jacket, she has a slim chance of victory, why she laughs at being called a bad guy, why she cares so much for Hayate.

Although all of this is just mere theory based on events seen in the Nanoha series. Do you want to believe?
