The original set was great. I've seen them so many times. I've seen the new set once each. I was so bored by them. A real downer when the first movie I can vividly remember watching in a theater was "The Empire Strikes Back."

Yeah...I'm that old.

I hate Star Wars. I hated the original trilogy in the 70s/80s and I hated the idea of the new eps so much that I didn't even bother seeing them. The trilogy was boring and trite. The overriding message that I got from it was "who cares". I had to endure wankers who thought it was sci fi, and even tried to put it in the same category as Star Trek (now there's a great group of series/films). And the Princess was fugly.

And I don't know which is worse, Star Wars or the Lord of the Rings. I saw LOTR part 1 and literally fell asleep in the cinema.

The origional was pure gold. The new ones - Episode 1 was total shit (JarJar kill that idiot, too bad when he got his tongue stick in the engine it didn't rip it off)

Episode 2 was better then 1, but still pretty bad. Episode 3 was the best of the worst, but the entire Anakin and Amidala romance was a train wreck - no chemistry at all. The best part is when Anakin gets chopped up and then burned.

Lucas just sold out, went for the money and the marketting for the movies 1-3.

I hope the TV show is better, hate the kiddie stuff (and the show had better not be like the Ewoks - now that was crap to)

I love the original trilogy....out of the new trilogy, I think Episode III was the best (especially that opening with the battle over Coruscant) and the only good thing that came out from Episode I.....Darth Maul and the lightsaber battle..

Just why do people have to assume I need a reason to like or dislike something. Can`t I just enjoy it without putting a reason Behind it?

But I digress, to answer your question , Yes , I love the holy trilogy .

There is nothing like that feeling you get during the attack on the first death Star.

I was a huge Star Wars fan back in junior high... I read the books, played the games, and collected old memorabilia (as well as practically memorizing the movies). The Timothy Zahn books were fantastic. The original Dark Forces and Tie Fighter were fantastic, back from the golden age of Lucasarts. Life was good as a Star Wars fan till the Episode One hype started.

Episode One came out my senior year of high school so although I had already moved away from Star Wars it was still a franchise near and dear to my heart. I was nearly devastated after watching it. I had been waiting 10 years for the new movies... and it was a train wreck of colossal proportions. Lucas raped his own legacy, Episode II was a little better, and Episode III was actually pretty good though nowhere near on par with the originals.

Only "fan fiction" I've ever been tempted to do is rewrite the prequels myself since I was so disappointed with the real ones.
