Well, damn. It's not showing up for me. :(

If you're like me (and I know I am) you tend to procrastinate until the last moment.

lol, that's quite an understatement. My articles are never written until the day they're due (normally I don't start until late afternoon/early evening) and I'm sure everyone hates me for it. Ah well. At least I get them written. It's pretty much high school all over again. I was on the newspaper staff and never wrote articles until the morning they were due (which wasn't all that bright, seeing as how I had the class 1st period).

By having the deadline a week earlier, you are forcing those procrastinators to have their pieces done semi-early so that everyone has time to look over them. Plus, it gives the compiler(s) a little extra time so they don't feel so rushed.

Eh, that's actually how it is now, sort of. The deadline this time around was August 31st.

I was aware of last issue’s deadline, if you look veeeery closely, you might see my claim to onigiri fame on page 25. But relatively speaking, August 31st was a very late deadline. It is a testament to the hard work of the editors that they were able to get such a high quality issue out so fast with the deadline that late. As a comparison, I regularly freelance for a magazine that has deadlines an issue in advance, so that if you want something to appear in, say, issue 25, you would have to submit your article before issue 24 hit the stands.

Edit: For those reading the .pdf I've noticed the following:

1) On page 14, part of the words are blocked out, the full page should read:
"The new and Official Crunchyroll Fansub Team need a logo! Do you have the imagination to make it? Just read the requirements below and enter your submission- Good luck!
The staff will pick the top 5 and let the forum choose the best, so look out for the thread so you can vote.

2) Page 17 should read:
"After so long, it's finally time to introduce Darkest. Darkest is both a story of a city, and a story of the notorious Nathan Tycho. The plot is set in the Alternate fantasy timeline where Man has taken to the skies in great airships, rather rather than to the vessels and roads of today, and magic is as much a science as...Well, science. The events of Darkest are set in the outlaw and half-hidden known as "The Dungeon," home scourge of air, the infamous Pirate fleets that terrorize the air-streams trade-routes. In this lawless setting, we're also introduced to the strangest of magical phenomena in the world – The mysterious and corruptive power of the Pit. There will be lots and LOTS of violence in this series.

Enjoy this story based in a city of pirates, insidious governments, Evil gods and broken souls. Just remember to keep in mind this; as my first work, won't exactly be a masterpiece and will contain grammatical/story flaws. There will be lots and LOTS of violence in this series. This first chapter will probably raise a lot more questions than answers, but I promise to answer them all in time if I'm asked to continue.. Your reviews will help me improve, so they would be greatly appreciated.

If you wish for me to continue this story; sound off, send me a PM, and possibly visit me down at: http://darkroad-journal.blogspot.com/
If I get no requests, I will not continue this story in the Onigiri

And now, onto chapter 1 of Darkest, by Tyler Stubenvoll.

There are two viewing options this work, one through the Online viewer; Scribd.com

Note: The author does not broker in proprietary formats like Microsoft's .Doc format. Instead, he has selected the ISO standard PDF for distribution, which is superior for cross-platform viewing and consistency. For Windows users, you will have to download a PDF reader, such as Acrobat or my personal favorite Sumatra, a free, open-source, and lightweight PDF reader. http://tinyurl.com/2jnekw

I fixed it (I think!) and uploaded it. All I can say is, it works for me, and looks good on my computer at least.
