Tomoya Okazaki is a third year student labeled as a delinquent. Everything seems to be unchanging for his school life until he meets Nagisa, and then Tomoya finds that his life is about to change. He starts to have dreams of a bleak world and meets a girl who has the ability to fuse junk together in order to create things, and in doing so, creates a body out of junk for him. He is then reborn into this empty world and follows around the girl, the only two existences who are "alive."

First, let me start by saying that the description listed seems to be a little misleading to the actual show, simply because it fully explain the relationships between the two worlds... and neither has the show itself... yet.

Despite this, this series is an absolute roller coaster! It starts off a little misleading, confusing and even a little schizophrenic at times; then, gets very, very funny with a happy tone, great character relationships and interactions; then it becomes very sad and quite emotional. Without even missing a beat, this circle starts all over again, and again. The music and animation styles even play off these, what seems like, methodical ups and downs, which only increases the overall effect the story has on the audience. The complexity seems to increase as well as the plot is further developed and the story-line revels more and more. It is very well written due to the fact that it has the effect of making the audience actually feel for the characters. All in all, these things make the show an absolute joy to watch, and one can only hope that there is a happy ending in the end, one where all the sad things are resolved in the best possible way. It is a must see and is highly recommended!

I have to applaud Kyoto Animation for being such a great producer of the many animes I enjoy to this day (i.e. Kanon, Kanon 2006, Lucky Star, Suzumiya Harhui, etc)
As for Clannad in this long series of good animes, I have to say it is a definite must see. Character development really shows itself through the many individual character archs that this anime uses. Also, the anime impliments slapstick humor, which I still can't get over to this day.
At times, this anime can really be touching and ocassionally really corny (depending if you're really picky). As the story unfolded, I had trouble picking up the two worlds concept that tomoya okazaki was living in. This is my only minor complaint.

Overall, I don't really have any real issues, but the major fact I always stumble upon is the near resemblance of Clannad to Kanon anime. Some of the characters I would be willing to say are near copies of another. Thus, I am really disappointed that Kyoto Animations could not come up with some character divergence from the Kanon anime.

Other than that, I really am a fan of clannad, and I hope that many other will enjoy the humor and interesting storyline that Clannad offers.

Yeah, I guess there is a duplicate thread, however, I ALWAYS make sure that there is not already a thread for the ones that I start.

When I started this thread, one for Clannad was not already posted up on the current list.

Maybe it was just over looked and not added to the list when I finally wrote this one.

Sorry.
