since feeling is first
who pays any attention
to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;
wholly to be a fool
while Spring is in the world
my blood approves,
and kisses are a far better fate
lady i swear by all flowers. Don't cry
--the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids' flutter which says
we are for each other: then
laughleaning back in my arms
for life's not a paragraph
And death i think is no parenthesis
So far I have deciphered that E.E. Cummings is saying that love is a feeling thing, not a thinking thing.
He is saying also how Death is not a parenthesis ")" on life whcih is not a paragraph. (So death is not an end)
When Cummings says that feeling is first, he's saying that feeling (emotion) is primitive in humans and thinking is only secondary. And when you are initially attracted to someone, the feelings come before the thinking (about the future of the relationship?).
Syntax is the structure of sentences. A native speaker of a language doesn't analyze the structure of the sentences they utter; that comes later, with formal education. As long as you can communicate effectively, does syntax really matter? No.
What's your take on this poem??
he means that the touch is the beginning. like in sex. it sparks the fire. then the life is forever cuz u know yea sex drive. then death is not an end meaning after climax, theres still u know tomorrow. n shit.
I agree, at first when I read it I thought it was a little creepy & nostalgic but I read it once more and it read it has a deeper meaning you just have to read between the lines. Nice poem mate.
Stop Crying our Heart Out. I hate school.
