I don't have OCD, but I have hundreds of cleanliness related habbits, that I just can't seem to overcome, not that I'd want to to be honest. Like I MUST shower before going to bed and have no contact with anything outside the house...else I have to sleep on the floor...sad I know. I also wash my hands directly after washing my hands.

everyone's a little ocd.. i can't stand using the erasers on the back of pencils... it drives me mad >.<

i once got a packet for ocd and it went something along the lines of:
you feel that something very bad will happen to you if you don't complete your "ritual"
apparently treatment can range from therapy (mild cases) to drugs (severe cases) o.o

i remember that one celebrity had to eat froot loops every morning and HAD to eat the purple ones last otherwise the world would end XDD

no offense to ppl who have severe cases of ocd =\

Nunu's right...everyone is a bit OCD. For some of the people on meds, they might just need someone to talk to, not drug themselves up! Personally, (and this might be an obsession), I HAVE to wear something green every day....eheh.

Everyone is a little bit OCD. I used to have some strange little rituals... lol Like when I was in the car I used to tap my feet everytime there was a gap in the hedge or pavement at the side of the road. I still sometimes catch myself doing it....

i have rather acute OCD, and have suffered from agoraphobia. im getting a bit better. basically if i think something bad when i touch something then i have to touch it again, then of course i am so self consious that i mess it up and have to keep doing it. also if i think one bad thing then say it again and touch the same thing my brain thinks thats cancelled the bad thing out, and i feel better.

also most people with OCD like me KNOW that theres no actual logic to it. i even have a degree in biology and studied some abnormal psychology.

I have a small case of it. It was way worst 3 years ago. I just worked really hard to try to control it. I used to scrub the sinks, fix the pillows to where they were side ways, and fix the curtains all before I go to bed. Then I would brush my hair up in a wrap with 20 strokes.....it was crazy.

I had a girl on my softball team that was OCD. She had to touch everything to her mouth, like when we went out to eat, she touched the table with her mouth. Also she's a pitcher so she has to put the ball to her mouth, got in trouble in a few games...lol

Risk Factors for Obsessive-compulsive Disorder (OCD)

A risk factor is something that increases your likelihood of getting a disease or condition.

It is possible to develop obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) with or without the risk factors listed below. However, the more risk factors you have, the greater your likelihood of developing OCD. If you have a number of risk factors, ask your healthcare provider what you can do to reduce your risk.

Risk factors may include:

Age
OCD tends to develop in late adolescence or early adulthood. However, it can begin as early as preschool age and as late as age 40.

Genetic Factors
Research suggests that genes may play a role in the development of OCD in some cases. OCD tends to run in families. A person who has OCD has a 25% chance of having a blood relative who has it.

Presence of Other Mental or Neurologic Conditions
OCD often occurs in people who have other anxiety disorders, depression, Tourette syndrome, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), substance abuse, eating disorders, and certain personality disorders.

Stress
OCD symptoms often occur during stress from major life changes, such as loss of a loved one, divorce, relationship difficulties, problems in school, or abuse.

Pregnancy and Postpartum
OCD symptoms may worsen during and immediately after pregnancy. In this case, fluctuating hormones can trigger symptoms. Postpartum OCD is characterized by disturbing thoughts and compulsions regarding the baby’s well-being.

Well I do have some things I feel I need to do. Like I always walk on patios and pavement slabs in a certain way. Would that qualify?
