The Charity Thread - Giving and Social Projects
Posted 9/6/07
Do you give to charity?
If so which ones?
Why?

Do you support any charities other than those you give to?
Which?
Why?

Have you ever worked for a "Service Project" (active involvement in charity work)?
Where and what did you do?
Why?
Did you enjoy it / would you suggest it to others?

Are there any charities which you dislike?
Which?
Why?

Do you give to charity?
>>Yes, I do. I give to charities for the homeless and for disabled people.

>>Yes charities for children.

>>Yes, In Bombay...it was a program to donate and gather money to clothe, feed and educate 20,000 children in rural villages.
It was a success and we were able to gather enough money for 21,800 children! ^_^

haha you do have a strong point there but there are some cases where it is so easy to give something that may be nothing to you but everything to someone else like time for a child or a turkey dinner for someone who couldn't afford it one thanksgiving

that doesnt work in so many situations that i cant even understand why you would even try to say that as a reason not to give to charity

"where is those cases" when my parents left me and bro(mentaly disabled) in the streets, being homless for 2 years, worked our butts off just to make a living...after going through all that carp and still are...i have not once acepted charity or even been offered...it made me stroger more independent and more realiable on myself to find that job, to get that home, to get food on the table....charity is just an scapegoat, it holds u back, because ppl will rely on charities and thinks that the charity will sovle everything....

Do you give to charity?
I give to the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots. And sometimes when my school does a food drive, I'll bring in some things for the homeless.

Do you support any charities other than those you give to?
I support children & cancer charities.

Have you ever worked for a "Service Project" (active involvement in charity work)?
I worked at a children's home for a weekend. It was nice to be able to give those kids something to be happy about, but sadly I don't think I'd do it again. Way to much work for me. I feel horrible to say that, but I'm not up for it. :[

Are there any charities which you dislike?
Nope.

again good point many people can do it with no help, but sometimes it is physically impossible to simply live without help and i'm truly glad to have helped anyone i have in the past charity will always be there for any member of my family so i like to think them being weak and being held back by me long enough to do things on there own isn't going to cause any long term damage seeing as long as i'm alive i'd be there there for them the only problem i see is if they do rely on me and i die but in which case they'll have no choice but to do better on there own

do you really do anything about the millions of dying ppl in the world. think about it would you go to that family who lost there mother to a shooting and tell them you will help...then how about the people that also got shot at this place and that place or how about the people who are starving in this place and that place.....are you willing to flying there used all you money to feed them to take care of them.....no cuz your worried about what you should wear tomorro what for dinner tonight....you doin your everyday life and people is dying...could you just stop and go help every single person out there...the answer is no....u gotta live your life and i'll live mines and if want to help other be prepared to help everybody....you and me right now argueing about this crap and right now i bet you someone is dying or suffering...you should go help him....

I don't usually donate, since I'm only 15. I do for cancer and such. RecentIy I visited a friend and we got a pink streak(temporary) for cancer.
I volunteer at animal shelters or local soup kitchens. Also I have to do charities and raise fund-raisers for volunteer hours at my school.
