For those not familiar with the series', it's about these people Called immortals, who are born in different parts of history, before they "die" their first death, they age and heal like regular people, after they die for the first time and are brought back by their powers, they remain appearing the age they were when they died even if they live for hundreds of years, and they heal very fast, and cannot be killed by most means

The only way they can be killed, is to be beheaded, if it's by another immortal A "quickening" happens transfering his power and knowledge to the victor, the fighting usually happens during the "gathering" in modern day, New York City, they fight until there is only one immortal left, and when that happens, the winner will have the power and knowledge of every immortal killed, of course they mostly fight with swords, almost all of the main characters of the different series are from the scottish clan of Mcleod (Hence the common last name of the series' protaganists)

The series has spawned, 4 movies with a 5th on the way, 2 television series, and an anime movie, if you are familiar with Highlander.......

What do you think of the overall series?
What first drew you to the series'?
What did you come to like or love about it?
What is your favorite storyline/series and why?
Who was your favorite "Highlander" and why?

I started watching the TV series with Duncan Mcleod (Adrian Paul), when I was 5 years old, I was drawn in by the awesome sounding theme song, Princes of the Universe, by Queen, I loved the sword fighting, it was always well done, and had gotten me interested in swords before Kenshin came along, even though I grew up watching the TV series with Duncan, I now prefer the original, Connor Mcleod (Christopher Lambert), because he was cooler then Duncan all around

Oh my God...Just when I think that Highlander has faded out of the minds of most of the people in my generation, it returns! Really, it wasn't that bad...Amusing to say the least. Oh and that thing about Sci-Fi showing "Highlander: The Source" actually has now grabbed my attention and I'll probably end up watching it...

I used to watch it when I was younger. The one Adrian Paul ss well as some of the older. I figured he could have been the next james bond, but it did not go though. Yep the Queen song is great.

I had a babysitter whos boyfriend told me he was a highlander, ha. You know, i was a kid back then so I was like "let me stab you" :D
Looking back, I figure he must have liked the show as well.

I was looking to download the new movie a while back, but i heard it was pretty poor, so did not look into it much.

Dont remember too much else about the series to say more. I like the action plot, the fantasy setting, the women, the sword fighting, and so on.

Wiki: "televised dramas, similar to Western miniseries, of extended stories usually dramatizing relationships through the general range of ten to forty one-hour episodes."

I would say the stories are not chiefly about the drama involved in relationships. Highlander the series has over a hundred episodes.

And yes, some of them did have sottish accents.

it premiered on Ani-monday on the Sci fi channel a few months ago

Anything without Christopher Lambert just isnt Highlander to me. I recall watching the movies and the anime before. My fondest memories results from the fight between The Kurgan and Rameriez from the first movie and the Theme song of course!

I watched the series avidly from like '94-'96, and occasionally after that until it ended. Being as that I was in junior high, I though it was the greatest thing ever conceived by man. Rock music, sword fights, immortals, hot euro chicks getting banged, and lightning fucking everywhere, hell, it's STILL a kick ass idea.

I think I saw the movie first on tv, liked if for the same reason as above, and then checked out the tv show. I would definitely say I was more into the show.

The first movie was GOLD. The second movie was absolutely horrid, so bad they couldn't even call Highlander 3 "3." The third movie was ok, the fourth was just a fun mesh up of the series and the movie storyline (which hadn't been seen since the first episode).

There were two animated "things." I know there was a newer anime one that I just saw on DVD (well, saw on the shelf... haven't seen it per se). Then there was a really old animated tv show based loosely on the second series. I remember seeing it on tv once and it was terrible. I can't remember if it was anime or european.

What is your favorite storyline/series and why?

I loved the classic "villain from centuries ago comes back in the present for the epic duel." So many good feuds to list all the ones I liked.

I think my favorite specific storyline would be the introduction of Methos, the oldest immortal. I liked him because he so wasn't what you would expect. He was so old he couldn't even remember how old he was - and I think even his original name.

I also like the episodes with Amanda. 1000 year old trickster immortal thief hottie FTW. Too bad her spin off series was terrible.

Who was your favorite "Highlander" and why?

ah, the age old highlander fanboy question. I'm going to say Adrian Paul. He's just a lot more believable as a bad ass and ladies' man.

the closer to the present the show took place, the less of an accent they had. Duncan n' Conner were the only prominent highlanders in the show as well. In the flashbacks they had really strong accents.

Highlander is quintessential 1990's to me (and the first - and by god only - movie is quintessential 1980s). It's a treasured show from my younger years, right up there with star trek the next generation. I remember anxiously waiting for thursday nights to watch the new episodes late night when they aired. I stopped watching not too long after I started high school and never really got back into it.

Now a days I don't enjoy the shows or movie quite as much, but they're still a lot of fun. You have to admit, it's a cool concept even if you don't like the way it was fleshed out.
