Ya, it's kinda funny that all animes are based in Japan and yet all the characters look like they're well not Japanese.

L definitely looks londonish with anime hair

I guess caucasian skin tones are the easiest to make believable when rendered
but i dont know how else anime characters look like caucasians they look like aliens
they have enormous heads enormous eyes and tiny torsos and their hair is big geometric shapes.

Because in most cultures, pale skin is historically more desirable. Pale skin meant you were wealthy and could stay indoors. Dark skin meant you were lower class and had to work outside. These days dark skin in Japan = kogal which = skank (unless you're Peach Girl).

Secondly, Japan is a very homogeneous culture, ie. everyone looks pretty much the same. This is reflected in anime with regards to character design. On the other side of the pond, American cartoons have to be conscious of which races are represented in the cast.

1. In japan, many males are uptight due to the way they're raised if in high-income families, or are extremely rebellious. either way, they hate conforming to the ideal "black hair dark eyes light skin" ideal of the perfect japanese which is for both men and women.

Bleaching your hair (even dying it brown) is somewhat on the extreme end of things in jp, so it lightly constitutes to the 'badass' stereotype. bleached hair, muscles, pure black clothes, motorcycle or modded car, etc.

In short, being the opposite of their parents' ideal japanese = current fad.

2. Babyboomer and Gen-X adults in japan don't give compliments to women often if at all. They treat 'em like trash if they do a bad job at something and when they do a good job, it's 'expected'. Women were treated even worse by the military before WWII, so when the war ended and many white males showed regular kindness towards women, they swooned over the men later being pregnant and ditched when the men went back to their families in the US.

3. US-Style. Just like how many j-rock fans in US wear japanese clothes and custom US cars have japanese badge swaps and drift or rally setups, Japan often dresses in US-fashions and swaps their japanese car logos for the american ones.

To be frank, I think anime characters look like anime characters, end of story. For the most part, they don't look Asian/Caucasian/Hispanic/whatever. The only area where they may look a little more Caucasian would be when the character has blond/brown hair. But I mean, when mixed with characters who have green, blue, pink, etc. hair.... just, no.

if you took an anime character and put them next to a real persons body their torsos are much smaller and their heads are much bigger
but not really all anime I guess Its just cuz ive been watching higurashi
