Everyone on the internet (except like 1% of people) who says they have it is just an attention whore and a liar. It's SO rare, and like 37963876834636458 whiny emo teenagers like to say they have it to get attention. OH I HAS A MENTAL ILLNESS I SO TRAGIC PAY ATTENTION TO ME.
STFU.

I'll agree some people do try to protend they have it for attention and that only adds to the problems for the people who do have it. + Not everybody with Autism will want to admit it too for that reasoning.

Never the less, its still rude and unforgivable to treat somebody who has it as somebody lower than anybody else. We deserve the same human rights as anybody else and although we act or thinking differently doesn't excuse the fact.

yes my brother has it...anyone heard about the links with the mmr vaccine and asbergers/autism? coz i beleive that is so true...
but thanks for posting this.. people need to be more aware.

I don't think there is a cure and if there was I would never take it.
I consider Aspergers Syndrome as part of my personality; can you cure somebody's personality?
In actual sense your actually going to kill a personality and give that person a personality to what the drug gives them. I just feel like that a moral.

Edit: I've made a group for Aspies (slang for Aspergers Syndrome) http://www.crunchyroll.com/group/Aspies_4_Life

and candy, there is no vaccination for mental illnesses like asperger's or down's...either you're born with it, or you're not...it's just like the fact that we have no current cure for hiv or aids...maybe someday, but not today...

Asperger's has become a fad for those seeking to garner attention unto themselves. In the fine, hallowed tradition of disease whores everywhere, many of today's youth expertly design a disease which kills two birds with one stone by 1) assuming others are born normal rather than work at it, giving the aspie an excuse not to make an effort to develop social skills, and 2) assuming they were born smart, rather than merely having had more exposure to books and computers because no one wanted to be around them. Naturally, like any other medical condition, autism can be fixed simply through heavy medications or a good slap upside the head.

Belittling those who actually suffer from the disease with their attention-whoring, the sole motivation for these self-diagnoses seems to be the desire to excuse their asshole nature and claim the disease's diagnostic as "having greater than average intelligence." Meanwhile, those who actually HAVE Aspergers are forced to take the only course left: fucking right off the internet and getting a real life. Although, it seems that anyone stupid enough to believe that a mental disability is a good thing most likely has one, just not the one they wanted.

Common symptoms:
* Overall being of a fucktard, retard in public with out caring that everyone hates him.
* Telling various sob stories about being misunderstood/discriminated.
* Threathening to commit suicide in order to get attention.
* Masturbating to 16 year old girls during Government/History class.
* Raping 15 year old German girls in the woods.
* Mumbling about paranoid fantasies involving ninja Nazis.
* Talking like a five year old boy with a robotic accent.
* Homosexualality
* Dressing up as a Disney princess.
* Thinking that everyone else is the one with the problem.
* Displaying extreme aggression toward other people.
* Yelling sexual harassment when touched by a hot girl.
* Running around like a retard claiming superiority to everyone.

*filtered swearing*

I felt the same way about that. Its really insulting and by the looks of it. That person posted on what they want to think rather than research, its more of a bully to say that.

As for the story about the MMR Vaccine. They think its what is another reason for having more people with Aspergers Syndrome, but it is not the cause its something unproven.
I've mentioned before about my views on the cure.

considering this is disorder that lasts for life. I have Aspergers Syndrome and I have still have problems with the above. Showing the wrong emotions is quite natural for me despite taking social skills lessons.

Body language is poor. Tone of voice isn't constant.. it varies alot.
Trouble in groups. Organisation is poor.. so coursework can be a pain to finish.

One of the big questions is if you've heard of Aspergers Syndrome. Alot of people dismiss it as something minor, now you can't tell I've got Aspergers because I'm only using text to communicate and that only relies on grammar and spelling mostly.

PS. when I meant minor.. as in theres nothing wrong with me.. and I'm just so random strange person..

I actually volunteer in a private owned organization that supports people with autism. And people with Asperger's syndrome have it way easy than the others. People with autism are unpredictable.

But still, people are so insensitive. If you think that most people who say they have it are just doing it for attention, then you are the one with a problem. I admit that there are some who exaggerates their disabilities and probably some who lies about it. Let them be then. That's their choice. If you know he/she is lying then leave it and let the person suffer the consequences of his/her actions.

My sister had a student in her class with AS. He wouldn't say something nice to make someone feel good, but when he did say something kind, it had more of an affect, since he actually meant it.

there was a girl i met a couple of days ago, while i was waiting for my mom to pick me up at school, who had aspergers. she said it was like a combination of adhd and ocd. her speech was perfectly normal, but before she even started talking to me, i was curious to know if she had some sort of mental disability because she had awkward body movements, like the way she adjusted her glasses and was always scratching her nose, things like that... i find it interesting that there are a lot of you guys on here that complain that there are a lot of people who claim to have aspergers when it's not true. this is the first time i've ever talked to someone with AS and i thought it was rather interesting...

interesting. well I do have autism, but I have no clue what kind exactly. I fit in just like any normal person. I love science -- mainly physics. 90% of my friends are Asian; no clue as to what that has to do with anything o.O I make some pretty damn interesting English essays! I amaze even myself =/

Let me see what else... As a kid I had lots of friends and I played sports, had fun, etc. Now, I play no sports, I'm in my room all day, I have friends visit occasionally, and I can never bother to stay organized. I'm also very contentious and apparently just don't know when to stop. I can't handle that some people are so stupid that when I explain the logic behind something that they just refuse to believe it, even though it's as simple to me as 1+1. I deduce that they either misunderstood something or don't want to admit that I'm right >.>

Besides that, I just tend to bottle up emotions. The bottle, in this case, doesn't explode. It's a black hole. I deal things out without aggression. In the past some people have just pushed to far and I snapped. Being 5 or 10 years old, I don't feel that back then I had much thought control. Now I can vent out anger through insults and jokes! Go me. Maybe get my ass kicked one day as well

I have a friend who, while a nice guy, can be unusual at times. Sometimes he offends me without seeming to intend it, for example. I seemed to remember him telling me once he had Asperger's, so I asked him several months after. He said he didn't, and that he didn't recall telling me he did. Possibly I just imagined it.

I really don't know about there being many people with Aspergers.
This thread has shown that we do hear about (or are one of the people who has it), but its less common than people who have ADHD or another form of Autism.

I know more than 5 people who have ADHD, seems to pop-up alot more.
I'm not sure but I think Down's Syndrome was in the Spectrum as well and come on, how often do you hear people with that?

The reason why theres problems is because its not well known. Thats why people are trying to make people aware with Aspergers/Autism Awareness campaigns.

You could be right, or he could just be a really sad spammer which all in all makes him look worse.

That same story has happened to me, but me being the person with AS and due to recent incidents (at the time) involving the police; I didn't want to make myself known to have AS because I had people wanting to hurt me. (5 boys tried to jumped me. Saved by sixth formers who were skipping class. Ended up going to hospital for having a tiny piece of metal embedded in my hand)

Despite current events, its also my feelings. Telling somebody I have AS makes me feel vunruable as I've given sooo much information all at once its disturbing. Makes you feel uncorftable so you can only really tell by looking for the symptoms, in the end all your really looking for is a title to explain the weirdness.
