If there's a topic similar to this, then please merge. :| I'm not asking about a scary experience like you almost crashed your car, almost died on an airplane, or you saw your grandma naked--no, not that. I'm talking about a horror story that's often times shared around a campfire while eating marshmallow. Something like that. It can be urban legend, a real ghost encounter, a hearsay, or just a plain old tale.

Please share. ^_^ I want to hear your stories.

Here's mine.

Five years ago, I was in high school, my English teacher told us about a bizaare experience two of her students had. They went to this newly built mall called Metropolis to watch a movie after class. It was late in the evening already so they managed to catch the Last show of the day. So they bought tickets and went in the theater. Inside, they saw a lot of people chitchatting. Nothing special. Just a typical scenario of a movie theater. And so, they watched the whole film.

When it was time to go, they headed for the exit. That was when they noticed the people inside weren't going anywhere. They were just in their seats. The two girls found it weird, since it was already late at night and that was supposed to be the last show for the day. Once they exited the theater, they asked the ticket boy in the booth about the people inside.

"How come they're not coming out? Is there another show after this?" they asked, or somewhere along those lines. The ticket boy just looked at them weird and told them straight that they were the only ones who were watching that movie. There was noone inside but them.

We've heard rumors that the ground the mall was built on used to be a graveyard. I don't know if that's true, but I know that story is true.

Okay, next!

One fateful day, Rosie O'Donnell was named commander-in-chief of the military.

I'll leave you to fill in the rest of the details.

i heard this story from a friend about her uncle's daughter. this story is hard to believe because the setting seems to take place in the olden days but this story i believe is only ten years old. my people lead very poor lives, a lot of them still live life like how our ancestor once lived. it's a long story, i'll try to make it as short and as accurate as possible.

in our culture it's not forbidden but it is discourage for people to brag about the beauty of a person. just like how you can't say a baby is pretty or cute, their soul will be taken from them.

in this very small town there was this girl that the whole town thought was very beautiful. rumors about her beauty even went as far as into other nearby towns. people even walked far distances to meet her. then late one morning while she was in cleaning near the fireplace (in front of the fireplace was the door that lead outside) she saw a hand come out from the side of the door, gesturing her to follow it. she was scared so she ran to into bed with her parents. she told them what happened but they thought it was just her imagination. the night sometimes can play tricks on people's eyes.

the next morning when they woke up, they found their beautiful daughter dead. everyone grieved for her that day as they prepared to send her off. that night her father had a very weird dream. a guy appeared in his dreams asking for forgiveness that, the guy has taken his daughter to be his wife and in return they guy will pay him. but a dream is only a dream.

the next morning the man found a bag of money on his door step and in the sky arched a beautiful rainbow and just below it was a fainted, second rainbow. in our language, literally translating rainbow means dragon and a dragon only appears for very special and ominous reason. she was so beautiful that the words even got to the heavens. so, in our culture you must be careful if you’re special. she was lucky the heavens took her, instead of the dead and lonely, clinging spirits.

i have a lot of stories if anyone wants to hear more. i'm fascinated by them.

Well, yeah. Lot’s of people have seen ghosts. Like the gift shop lady at the haunted house…. -_-… Na, I’m not really sure if I do or don’t believe in ghosts. I don’t waste my time having opinions about such silly subjects. I’m not about to dive in and research that kind of thing. There’s no real point.

This took place while i was in high school.

It was around 9.40pm...i was in class, studying for the exams with other students. Had to take a break, so asked my friends if they want to take a stroll around the school with me.

Well, there's this one classroom, rumored to be haunted by the ghost of a girl who hanged herself there. Honestly, i never believed it was true, sounded just like the typical ghost story you get everywhere....

Anyway, when we passed the classroom, one of me pals said "what?" Of course, no one whispered a thing, soon we were laughing about his deteriorating sense of hearing .

But the guy insisted he heard someone asking him something. He said it was a bit unclear, thats why he asked "what". Then we all turned to the classroom to see something white shimmering in the doorway for like, a minute or two, then it suddenly disappeared. No harm done, maybe because by that time we were quite far away...now i think of it, no one spoke a word of it after that...

Our high school is full of ghost stories, ranging from the ghosts of ww2 japanese soldiers marching across the school compound, to stories where people were swallowed by a hole in the ground (rubbish, this one. I went to the hole and it didn't exactly start trying to swallow me )

Wait, your religious?
If you are, why is the thought of ghosts so silly?

Hmm…Well, the concept of ghosts isn’t really silly. It’s certainly possible. But the mien of the whole subject gives it a “Big Foot” hunting feel. You know what I mean? Like those T.V shows where they have fake psychics go in and say “I feel a presence. It’s angry. You should be careful. Give me 500$ for this reading.” Then people pretend like they’re being touched, and they interview a bunch of inbreds and gift shop saleswomen.
