Well your processor is not too bad, is your video card direct x10? And man 512 SDRAM woo -.-, get a couple gigs of DDR2...lol Oh and an 80 gig HD wow, I know that must suck. I mean it's a good computer, but I'm glad your upgrading. and in regard to the forum moderators question, I would say that nVidia is better. At least my teacher said that it is good, if if was me I would get an nVidia 8600 DirectX10. I heard that the 8800 have a problem, don't know what, just heard that they do.

Lol my computer prolly has the same specs...it needs upgrade bad! Good for you! Hope you get what ya want!

Mostly because they have no flexibility in building their machines.

Anyway. For the past.. What five years now, I've been using the same machine. Mind you it's not one of those shitty Dell's, or HP's, it's a cute machine. A custom built one as well. It's specs are considered "godly" if it were a computer from 2002...

AMD Athlon XP2500+ processor
Nvidia Geforce4 Ti4200 Video card
512MB SDRAM
DVD-ROM w/ CD-RW
"80" GB Hard Drive
3.5" FLOPPY FUCKING DRIVE
and all around failure.

I just felt like sharing my specs, I don't want suggestions as I have all ready picked out what I want on my next machine (which is PROBABLY coming to me this Christmas.)

Here I welcome you to do the following:

Share your specs for criticism.
Request help with building a machine.
discuss new hardware coming out in the future.
And anything relevant to that.

what are you aiming for? i for one aimed for a budget computer that can play bioshock( dont really like crisis) and at $300 including my new 8600, it did just that. also what type of mother board do you have? mines is an asus m2n-mx se plus( big word for it works, but i cant do any sli-ing or overclocking on it) also how big is your power supply? and how many fans do you have? (may sound like a dumb question but my fans are so loud they scare small children and dogs

I know that sharing your specs will help in giving suggestions on how to build your PC ~ what needs to be upgraded, what can be prioritized, at the like.

However, please make sure you're not simply posting yours specs to show off. You can do so in this thread:

Post your computer configuration here!

(don't ask me why it's "computer configuration"... I didn't start that thread. )

Here's a question: Is there any big difference on deciding between getting an ATI Radeon or Nvida Graphics card? I've heard comments saying that Nvida is preferred for video games, while ATI Radeon is the preferred choice for Grahpics Designers. Is this true, or is this just a common misconception? I might think of upgrading in the future.

there is a slight difference, many gamers prefer nvidia because the drivers dont glitch up every now and then like radeon does and they are more heavily advertised, even i have an 8600 even thought a card from radeon of the same year is cheaper and has a better core clock. and yes ATI made some fire-something technology that makes it efficient at graphics design, but they cost like a thousand something
