Shinji any updates to getting rid of the black bars on eather side of the wide screen anime. it's realy frustrating not been ably to watch the ones i'd like to.

edsamac, thanks for redirecting me to the right thread.

Forcing 16:9 to 4:3 can be rather unpleasant, especially in watching your favourite dramas or anime. I'm no programming whiz, but I too, think that horizontal black bars will be a better idea than vertical ones.

Speaking of which, users who upload videos should try to edit and upload their videos in 4:3 mode (16:9 with added horizontal bars) for the time being to 'correct' the problem.

^ That might be a little added effort on the part of uploaders. And since most of the videos in this site are not uploaded in that format, it would make sense to continue uploading videos as they are and update the fullscreen feature to correctly display 16:9 aspect ratio videos with horizontal black lines.

But honestly, a distortion that causes the image to seem taller as opposed to one that makes them look wider (as a 4:3 aspect ratio is stretched to fit a 16:9 aspect ratio) is much better. The current distortion is bearable, but an update would surely be welcome.

For the mean time, I don't think the users should be asked to adjust with the added burden. We'll just update the fullscreen and it will make everyone happy.

PERFECT Shinji absolutly perfect. thanks you for fixing it, so happy now can continu to watch wide screen ones.

hopefully now that it's fixed you keep the old style of full screen too so that those of us that like to do other stuff while watching the anime can, please don't remove it again.
