A Good Song = Good Singer?
Posted 3/21/08
I've noticed that whenever certain people have a good song, a lot of people just assume that they're good singers. But I've been wondering, just because the song writer wrote a good song for the singer, does that make the singer a good singer?

Before you answer, think first. Think of the people who you think are good singers, and ask yourself if they sang a song that doesn't sound good, can they transform it into an amazing piece of art? Can you know they're singing just by their voice? Do they have a good strong voice, and they can project it well?

I personally think that a good song doesn't make a singer good. It's all of the things I've listed above. And just because someone doesn't have the best songs, doesn't mean he/she/they aren't good singers.

And of course, looks obviously has to do with the way people think of singers, but that's a discussion for another time.

Feel free to list any example of "good" and "bad" singers

Every singer has a bad song. :D
And its not a good song if they dont feel it.

Thats just my opinion.

but if they have bad voice and bad technique, yet they sing with emotion, are they a good singer then?

Yeah pretty much what's been stated above me.
I agree that a song makes ppl assume that you are a good singer.
Good singers- Christina, YUI, Utada Hikaru
Bad- hmm, Vannessa Hudgens, etc.

I would put In Some Cases. because if the singer sucks, maybe the instrumentals are awesome, and if the instrumentals suck then the singer might be good, it all depends, so I'm sticking with Sometimes.

i think that not all songs needs singers. if the song has a lot of good guitars, than it doesnt need any singers

if a song is really good, the singer can make it better
if the song is bad the singer can make it better or worst. in some cases where singers dun connect to the music makes listeners lost.. but if the music itself is good, people will still listen to it. if a singer connects with a bad piece of music it may turn out nice after listening intently and carefully. this happens in many cases
