i dunno about the 5 second staring thing. plus, do we really need more people on this planet? anyways, low birth rate's a problem in japan too.

people don't have children these days b/c their lives our consumed by work and material desires. it's a cutthroat world out there.

Very much agree.
And social stress coupled with an ever materialistic society is the fundemental of low birth rate.

I read an article a month back about this really rich guy whose either a millionair or billionair.
And it was 2 years back where he embarked on a journey across the globe to work his way back to his country without bringing a SINGLE cent nor CREDIT CARDS.
HE didn't had any luxury items with him apart from the basics.
He worked in vineyards/cafe/kitchen just for a roof and spare change for transport.

What he was trying to stress is that people should return to a more communal way of living instead of a capitalistic one.

If we all lived more communally, that would eliminate the desire to progress and in a world without progression, wouldn't we cease to be humans? Humans thrive on comfort and on advancements both physically and mentally, how long do you think we would be able to trade that up for a simpler way of living?

i suppose it is really up to u to choose ur own lifestyle.

Different level would have different amount of resources and problems. But the ratio should be around the same. SO now we have a lot of resources and thus more problems created from them. Well social darwinism in play?

You haven't got my point.
Communal living is exactly similar to how a capitalistic world is run but what differs them is the trade.
Instead of $$,people get what they want by rendering service.

If a capitalistic society is the way to advance then what spells the spiralling low birth rate?
3rd world and developing nations aside, what do we see in developed counteries in terms of birth rate?

I'll leave ou to that

Mmhmm, and why do you think first world countries have rid themselves of the bartering system to say the very least? It has proved to be rather outdated.

You're worrying about low birth rates? I ask why, when the human population is on a steep escalating point with no sign of leveling off any time soon? Personally, I find no hurt in only one or two kids per household rather than five plus. To the latter part of your question, it all depends on the first world country. Take America for example, considered to be a first world country but there are starving kids everywhere. Kids are born (by the vast majority of the lower class) in masses in order to obtain wellfare benefits and free health services. Most are unable to break free of the mentality that comes with their poverish upbringing and turn to drugs, violence, gangs in order to be a part of something larger than themselves. It only creates problems for the struggling middle class to clean up with poorly spent tax dollars.

Yea, I want them to assign partners. As long as mine is female and attractive, and not older than say 30.
