Imgkulot is a virus created by a nothing-to-do programmer of Iloilo City, Philippines. This virus was created in visul basic script and can't be detect by any antivirus program. Here are some tips on how to remove imgkulot in your system:

1. Open My Computer

2. Open the drive C: (if you have another partition open it: all the drives must be open at the same time)

3. Open the Recycle Bin

4. In the C: drive window select the Tools>Folder Option>View>Show hidden files and folders> Uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types and then the Hide protected operating system files>Apply>OK

5. While your on the drive C: open Windows>System23

6. Delete the imgkulot.vbs, imgkulot.bat, and imgkulot.reg

7. Go back to C: window

8. Delete Autorun.inf, imgkulot.vbs, imgkulot.bat, imgkulot.reg

9. Use the step 8 if you have another hard drive connected

10. Go to recycle bin and then delete all the deleted files

11. Restart your computer

I don't know how useful this thread will be especially since it's probably gonna die in less than an hour and no one will ever speak of it again.

I think this information can go in the tech thread, and we can redirect users who may start threads regarding this problem to that thread.

Sheesh... another pinoy virus... and a stupid name to boot.

Did you guys actually seen a computer virus first hand? I meant to say that you accidentally opening up a virus content, then it [virus] affects your computer while it displays an image in the computer screen. ...just like the computer virus that is being shown in TV or movies.

Imgkulot sounds like a gay guy having his curls done. Img = image, kulot = curl

i think edsa's got a point this should be in the tech thread... and the problem's more exclusive to Philippines... so this should also go to the filipino thread...

this is not much of a virus coz' it's more of a script... therefore can't be detected by antivirus or antispyware programs... anyway it's transmittable via usb disks or flashdisks... it kinda works like STDs to be blunt about it... plug your disk in an infected PC and it gets infected too, plug your disk at your home PC it gets infected as well and so on...

Sounds like the RECYCLER and ccolgate variant viruses that do nothing but reproduce themselves in your computer. RECYCLER is relatively harmless, but ccolgate produces a new folder of itself in each subset folder in your computer, eating lots of memory to the point that the system (on occassion) crashes.

It's an old virus, so I bet there are some antivirus updates for them. Besides that, I'll go ahead and lock this thread and redirect the information in the said threads.

EDIT:
In addition, portable memory viruses that are transmitted through flashdrives and other external storage devices are quite common these days. One of the simplest ways of getting rid of them on your portable memory device without infecting your computer is to stick it in a Mac. You'll see the virus and it's corresponding scripts ~ just unlock it (allow it to be read-writable) and delete it. The Mac won't get infected because the script does not apply to it.
