nope i think a person is intelligence is how they act and talk.

Pretty much...I actually use their proficiency in argument to judge their someone's intelligence, because it usually shows you pretty quick how they think and react [plus it is quite fun for me]...

Anyways, I think that grades and IQ tests are probably the two most constrained and sometimes inaccurate measurements of intelligence. With grades it is actually more of a measure of work ethic than it is intelligence anyways...In addition to that, IQ tests are decent for measuring how well someone will do in school if they apply themselves, but still, I would call it lacking because that is all it measures. There are people that I know that happen to have rather high IQ scores and they vary from slacker geniuses, to would-fail-at-life-outside-a-school-environment A students, ect...Oh well...

We are relatively young as a race. so I'll give ourselves another 500,000 years before we can truly say humans are intelligent.

BTW other than certain creatures like sharks, crocodiles, and cockroaches, most species on this planet have not been around all that much longer than human beings, and even if you claim that some of them have been around since right after the last ice age, many of those creatures have changed rather significantly since then; the same is true for humans...

"We are relatively young as a race. so I'll give ourselves another 500,000 years before we can truly say humans are" that was a joke. i don't think we will be around that long sadly. but the beauty of it is we (you and I) will never know what becomes of us.

From a psychological point of view(yes i've studied psychology), intelligence is the capacity to understand the world, think rationally and use resources effectively when faced with challenges. However, there are many types of intelligences. Good grades in school are part of academic intelligence which include logical-mathematical intelligence(skills in problem-solving and scientific thinking) and linguistic intelligence(skills involved in the poduction and use of languages). Other than tat, there are spatial intelligence(skills in spatial configurations, meaning navigation and such), musical intelligence(obvious what its about), bodily-kinesthetic intelligence(skills in the use of the whole or certain parts of the body, this is applied to athletes, dancers, actors and surgeons) and many more.

Good grades in school is just one part of intelligence. There are many more. Street-smarts is a more useful intelligence than academic intelligence, in my view.

Intelligence=making the right decisions

If you make the right decision and study for school, it'll show your intelligence through your grades.
If you make the right decision and act/talk understandably, you'll appear smart.

Intelligence is basically making the right decisions throughout your life.

what is the big deal in knowing or defining something that is beyond one's measure? will knowing how to define something really means that you can use such? anyone here might have had lectures or seminars or conferences dealing with intelligence, or perhaps even a degree boasting that he/she had undergone studies for intelligence, yet after such, would you actually consider them intelligent up to some extent? some may be, some may be not...but who cares? for me, intelligence is simply the drive to live...and that's it. i may talk or act intelligently yet got messed up with my own life due to the imposition of such actions or manners of speaking...that is intellectual but not humane thus making intelligence futile and useless...that is why for me, an intelligent person simply is a person who can live life beautifully no matter how disastrous it may be.

Intelligence is how well you can succeed in whatever you do (anything that requires brains that is), and having your own opinion.

A teacher of mine said to me: ''An intelligent person is not the one that knows all the answers, but the one that knows where to find them''.

^^just say no to pithy aphorisms.

Reminds me of this "the view" clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkrkaH_V7fE

Q: "Is the world flat?"
A: "I don't know." "Never thought about it."
Q: If your son says to you, mom is the world round?
A: I'd have to go, baby we gotta go to the library

A lot of people consider grades to be the defining factor of intelligence, I think it shows your interest in your subject or your ability to focus.IMO, I think real intelligence lies in creativity and having the ability to solve problems.....
What do you think?Please discuss....

i agree on you on this.. most people do think its about how much knowledge a person can have. But to think of it, its not all bout the facts, is also how you could handle things in your way, to have something not just seen but to be experienced as well..
