I was just curious to what people think about self protection and the possibilty of an attack on their land.

Guns, swords, anything that's built to kill or harm.

Are you talking about terrorist attacks? I believe there is a thread about this already. Or are you referring to what people think about weapons?

personnaly someone should have a good reason for killing someone and only for a good reason you don't raelly want a country full of mass murderers do you?

When everyone has a gun, they feel safe. But in reality is, you just never know if someone just randomly guns you down. It's hard to track a killer down when everyone has a gun.

Take for example the case of Virginia Tech.
http://edition.cnn.com/2007/US/04/16/vtech.shooting/index.html

How do you know who, and when is going to kill? Stuff like this is more usual nowadays, than some decades ago. Simply because it is easier for a kid, teenager, or young adult to put his/her hands on a gun. People think they are safe with guns, but what if those guns are at the reach of dangerous people without we knowing it?

Guns, and any kind of weapon was made to kill. No matter how many meanings people gave to weapons. Weapons are meant to kill.

Yea right. Guns used to be even easier to get and there were few or no school shootings. High schools in the US used to have shooting clubs and kids would bring their rifles to school.

All the shooting crap lately is being caused primarily by something else. Most recently I think it's been caused by media attention and people being copycats.

And yes, I think it's reasonable for adults to be allowed to own guns.

Not necessarilly a terrorist attack, but just weapons for any sort of situation that could possibly be related to war.

If I recall correctly, there should be a situation circulating around the ban of weapons for citizens.

I don't think citizens should be banned from carrying a weapon. It sure isn't easy to track down specific individuals with everyone owning a weapon, but it's not exactly like everyone would obtain one. There's restrictions and whatnot, right?

And that carries on into another reason. Even if people were not allowed to own weapons, there's still loopholes and whatnot that would allow those individuals to obtain them, regardless. Illegal goods, much? There's loopholes everywhere..

I think that if someone wants to kill, they will kill. It doesn't even matter if you're not holding onto a gun. Even a kitchen knife can plunge someone to his/her death. Everyone has the potential to become a killer, like HayatellAyasaki said, you don't know who, where, when, etc.

So the ability to at least own a weapon, for protection, plays into everyone's mind. It's like a safety barrier, guarding their lives. Is it right for the government to take away this comfort? And isn't it a violation of rights, of the Second (?) Amendment?

Everyone can kill ..anything can play a part in the kill..

Those in the United States were given the right to bear arms in the event that the people needed to overthrow the government. It was to give the people a fighting chance if they were to ever clash with the government and the military forces under their command.

Also in the event that the United States is invaded.
