Any stupid or crappy ending is still better than when an anime has a misplaced ending, at a point where it seems like the show dosen't seem like it is supposed to end but does any way.

I have to think that the series that end with a "no ending" last episode are due to person(s) in charge having some belief they will have the chance to continue the story, whether with another season or one or more OVAs. I would be interesting to know how many series that did continue were ended a season with a "no ending" episode without knowing for certain if it would indeed continue.
