Hey guys, I know most of you love ALL these Metal genres (like me ) but which one is TRULY your most prized genre? I know it's hard to choose, I'm even having a difficulty of choosing it myself...So good luck and hope you don't regret your choice once you have voted, and if you have a reason/artist why you chose that genre, post it here! And yes I know I'm missing Melodic and Symphonic so just please if you accept, I'm accepting those into Heavy (sorry, just not enough Poll choices to put EVERY Metal Genre in here, sorry again)

i'm confused here. what is "heavy" metal? i thought heavy metal was the full genre of music, and all the others are just sub-genres of that can you name some bands that fit into the "heavy" sub-genre? i want to know before i vote.

Iced Earth Iron Maiden etc. stuff that scream a little but not too much, screaming through the whole song with a deep voice is Death Metal.

no Melodic Death or Power? oh well, i choose Death. Heavy comes in second, then Prog, then Tech, and finally Black (I just can't get into Black :/)

Unfortunately the Poll isn't well defined enough.

Many metal groups fall between two of the groups mentioned, or into a separate category altogether.

I chose "Heavy" in the end because you claimed that you would place "Melodic and Symphonic" under that roof... therefore Gothic... and therefore encompassing more of my favourite bands than any of the other genres.

You missed Thrash (major, major discrepancy there!)

Additionally... your differentiation between "Technical" and "Progressive" could have been used to add in a genre which is considered more different than those two, which to be honest cover such wide scope within themselves as to be impractical "first labels" of a bands style.
eg. Dream Theater are "Progressive" - but they're also pretty "technical" and sound like some bands who are labeled as "heavy metal".

Yep. By "Technical" I think he meant Math Metal.
