IS romance a must in a anime?

do they spice things up or do u feel that its unnecessary? or do u hope that the (director i suppose) of the anime would be more creative in creating a VERY explosive ending that make us drop tears . what do u expect and look forward to in the anime?

Depending on how the creator/director/author wants the plot to go, there may or may not be romance. There are some instances, though, in which a romantic relationship ruins an anime.

There's one example of a director I know who used to give a big "fuck you" to romantic relationships in his animes: Yoshiyuki Tomino. Each time he makes a relationship grow, he kills off one of the two involved (almost often the girl). This is notable in his earlier creations like Mobile Suit Gundam and Space Runaway Ideon.

well, romance isn't a must, but if there is i wouldn't mind :3~

take for example magical girl lyrical nanoha, there's no romance (well if there is there's like..none ._.)
yet it's really good :3~

and i don't expect stuff since i don't like being disappointed x.x

I love it when there's romance
in an anime but not too mushy,
it bores the viewers especially
people who doesn't love romance

Of course romance must exist! If not,how would some crazy fangirls get hooked on the show? Without romance they can't imagine themselves in a romantic atmosphere because there is no such scene in that show.

As for me,the more blood the better.(God i am such a sadist)

not really a must.. but i think its better if the story has even a little romance in it.. it gives the story a somewhat light atmosphere.. and it spices things up.. =3

Man I can't say how many times I had the same thougth bout those two. They got the chemistry, like in the last mangachapter.

And romance isn't a must but it's not like it would ruin the shows if some of the protagonists would've had hooked up with theire female counterpart.
