Some drama a bit exaggerated because some of the drama follows comic expressions.
And they make it a bit too over react. But for me it OK because it is funny.
Try to watch Nodame Cantabille. It is so funny.

chilidish?? watch one litre of tears and proposal daisakusen and say that again..

for me, Jdoramas are the most meaningful among all dramas..

they touch lives and they discuss about life itself..

tried to watch Iryu....

maybe, becoz lots of dramas are adaptation from anime or manga..so the expressions are a bit exaggerated
like My Boss My hero, Nodame cantabile, Hana Kimi..
but, Jdrama has more meaning in it than Kdrama or Twdrama..
friendship, love, live, family are portrayed in those drama

i agree with the majority ... in most of jdorama i've watched so far, there are messages that they want present to the audience ... some of the acts seem exaggerated, but i think it's what makes jdoramas, jdoramas. i think it's afterall norms in japanese culture. i watched some of the talk shows, and i think it's something japanese.

well, i can say is that the japanese are more comfortable to cute things, i think its their culture to have a splash of cuteness in their lives which inevitably can be seen in their dramas.. in short they like "kawaii" things.

Yes -- a lot of dramas, especially the ones that are centered on high schools, are exaggerated and a little bit childish. There's always the predictable "bitchy girl group", the "cool guy group", "trying-to-be-funny group", and within the series there has to be at least one SCHOOL FESTIVAL, some kind of made up lie about the main characters' RELATIONSHIP, usually made by the bitchy girls, and a really overblown ATHLETIC COMPETITION.

All of these occurred in .. Hana Kimi, My Boss My Hero, Nobuta wo Produce, Hana Yori Dango (sort of, though it was overexaggerated in other senses), and probably more that I haven't seen.

I think that they can sometimes be funny (Hana Kimi), but ultimately NOT believable. At least not to me. I'm not that familiar with Japanese high school life, but if its really like that, then I am sure as hell glad I didn't go to high school in Japan.

Even though I did enjoy the previously mentioned dramas, I prefer more serious dramas like 1 Litre of Tears, Kurosagi, yeah, stuff like that.
