i enjoy childishness but i dont like too much stupidity! heheheh...
childishness in hana kimi(toma) and nobuta wo produce(yamapi), i find it funny!
the special in nodame cantabile, i find it too stupid(nodame in europe), the series is really good but the special sucks! i hate it!
hana yori dango1 is more childish than the second season, season two is more mature!
gto and gokusen teaches you a lesson, sometimes childish but you got to learn from it!
but i like all of this jdramas especially when maki horikita is in it!!!

I think they're not childish, quite opposite infact. I find that jap drama are way too idealistic, could be a good thing for some, bad for others.

Jdramas as many people already pointed out are not childish. Asians can pull off the cutsie type of acting, and it's one of the main points on why people watch it. Yes, it might seem a little animeish but what can you expect, anime did come from Japan, and its mainstream, how can people not pick up on it. I mean, even I started to pick up some cute anime habits just by watching it and I don't even live in Japan. It's cute and just as long as they can pull it off, then it doesn't bother me. Plus, maybe the dramas that you saw that are childish were live adaptations of anime so of course they'll be animeish, or else they'll lose the feeling.

I've seen some 'childish ' characters in Jdrama, but heck I think its intended, especially in comedies. And I've seen the 'serious' Jdrama too, and they aren't childish, they're perfectly normal character wise.

I think u need to watch more 'serious' Jdrama's, mostly the old ones, that does not have anime style effects and childishness.

Wow, I think the opposite. I think Jdramas are more deep and profound than any other kinds of dramas. Some examples---
-Nobuta wo Produce
-Life
-Nana
-Great Teacher Onizuka
-Sexy Voice and Robo
-Pride
-Beautiful Life
-Brother Beat

I don't know about you, but for me, Japanese dramas always have some kind of meaning to it at the end. Korean dramas and Taiwanese dramas are mostly about love, but Jdramas revolve other things such as life, family and friendship. SOME may be childish such as Nodame Cantabile, but they always have a single theme to the entire drama--[In Nodame's case, perhaps 2 people brought together by a single love for music? Or the way that both Nodame and Chiaki grow as the story progresses?] To be honest, I think Taiwanese dramas are more childish. Their stories are about childish love and many of them are pointless. No offense to Tdrama watchers XD
