I don't think so--- I think in most cases, j doramas have the perfect balance between the intense melodrama of kdramas and the too cutsey dramas. BUT don't get me wrong, I love kdramas for its serious, dark, twisted plots and tw dramas for its cheesiness. AND I am speaking in general--- obviously there are exceptions. I just think j doramas are good at being in between the two extremes.

lol I don't think childish is the right word. More like animeish, mangaish I think? haha I don't know. But I got that feeling when I first watch Hana Yori Dango. I thought it was so weird from Meteor Garden because I found it soo exagerated and unrealistic how everybody just started gathering together in the cafeteria and the F4 had chairs to watch in the middle. I was like But I only had that feeling when I first watch Hana Yori Dango. Most Japanese dramas I found funny but they can be serious when needed.

..i watched many japanese dramas and although i like them (at least they're not boring and they are so funny), i cant help but be turned off by the "too-childishness" of japanese characters, they're like 'animes'....well, i'm askin your opinion..just curious...

i think TW dramas are FAR more childish than Japanese ones....i have tried watching MANY TW dramas but have only been able to finish just a few...and even the ones i managed to finish have pretty childish plots and acting, just more bearable than the rest...

In almost every Japanese drama I have seen, I have learned at least one thing. So I doubt that they are childish. I think Taiwanese dramas are WAY more childish then any Japanese I have seen. Like Smiling Pasta. o.o It could be considered like a drama for children.

I get what you mean, but I actually like it. It's nice to take a break from heavier stuff(K dramas have a tendancy to make me cry). Rather than say they're more childish I would say that they're lighter.

A lot of people are comparing TW and J Dramas.. and personally I think that's dumb... both have serious ones and both have childish/exaggerated ones.. after all, a lot of both are based on mangas.
