Okay so, obv and oreo is a black person who acts white. Point Blank. I happen to be an oreo, and i don't perfer (putting it gently) dating people of my own race. Im not really an oreo i guess since i am mixed, but people think all black people are into hip hop, and ghetto. Im not one of those people. What do you think about oreos, and if you are one, whats ur opinon?

“Once you label me, you negate me”

Don't bottle up yourself in such limited perceptions. Teens tend to do this all the time since they're at a period where they are finding themselves out, so an easy and comforting way to deal with this is to get attached to certain social labels. That's not bad, it's a natural thing to do at that period of your life but don't overdo it.

People think a lot of crap. Many of it is a bunch of generalizations because it either helps as a shortcut to deal with them in a day to day basis, in that case is a positive thing but sometimes it gets mixed with negative things, such as stereotyping.
So I suggest you change the way you view yourself from:
Point Blank. I happen to be an oreo,
to
Some people are wrongly putting me into an unnecessary label. or something along those lines.

never heard of oreos, but i don't think there's a big problem. you can't define what is white and what's yellow brown or black
they're just stupid stereotypes. =]

I'm not saying i hate my race people, i kno who i am, it's just harder to be black than white in my eyes, always has been

Don't try to be "white", try to be YOURSELF! Last time I checked, personality and race aren't the same thing...YOU CAN STILL BE BLACK AND LOVE ANIME AND ROCK MUSIC! You don't have to strive to be "white".

what i meant is, people will probably always put me in the "black" stereotype, though allot of people in diff races (or i haven't seen it at least) they don't have to go through that type of stuff.

One of my best friends is always getting shit from her brother for "acting white". He calls her an oreo and makes fun of her because she only dates white guys. It seems weird to me that someone can "act" like a certain ethnicity. She's not trying to be anything she's not, she's just being herself, and herself likes white boys.

2.) You can't act like a race.
3.) <__< If this threads stays up longer, I'll respond with a true answer.

I noticed that too "Huh.. That is obvious? My oh my..."

<_<

Anyway.

Why is that label called Oreo? Any particular reasons or?

~ Edit:

It's kind of wrong to say "acts like a white". Because last time I checked we ain't all part of a great hive mind.

I hate how people always think being educated, means you act white. It's really annoying.

race shouldnt even matter
stereotypes are stuuupid
i mean, so what if youre black
act however you want

i guess i dont get it... how do "white" people act?
or "black" "asian"
whateverrr
i really dont get it!
you dont act like a different RACE.
you act like a different STEROTYPE that the majority of another race belongs to.
just like "wiggers" no there is no such thing as a "wigger". you're just a white person trying to act "GHETTO"

well i dont think you should be called that or classed just because you dont fit into the "black" stereotype
people need to think outside their assumptions and instead of wasting time classing everyone spend more time actually getting to know the person
who knows, youll probably meet up with a really cool person that you woudlnt have if you kept on classing them like this

Ugh, the term "oreo" is just another way for people to stereotype someone for being whoever they are. Yes, I've been called an "oreo" many times and it just amazes me how someone could call themselves and other people an oreo (specifically black people) for acting a certain way. Sure, I may like rock and roll and I may regard my education as sacred. Do those two facts not make me black? Does it make me act white? What is acting black or white? It's good not to be caught up in trying to be or not be something. Remember to just be who you are and don't let a term define you.

the stereotype 4 races isn't that difficult to understand, ecspecially when your mixed. Acting white for instance would be listening to rock music, or something like that. Think of music as an example. Acting black would be listening to hip-hop, rap, all that stuff
