This reminds me of a story I overheard my classmate telling during English class a day or two ago. There was this guy drowning in the water. A boat came & offered to rescue him, but the guy said, "No thanks, God will save me." Another boat came, and the guy gave the same response. He then drowned & died. He then asked God why didn't God save him. God replied, "I sent you two boats, you idiot!!!!"

indeed! i know that story too. translating it to the girl's case, i think the "boats" sent by God are the "doctors" who will supposedly save their daughter. the girl could have been saved because of the fact that her sickness is CURABLE.

What morons!!! They better not go to the hospital next time one of them gets sick!!! If they ever seek professional medical attention for themselves after they didn't get it for their daughter, they will seriously burn in Hades.

I think they created a new meaning to the word "Dumbass". Shit, if I had a serious curable disease and my parents only prayed for me to get better, I'd run away! Go to a good friends house and ask if THEIR parents can help. Thats way better than dying for a stupidass reason!!

That is a really sad story, I have also heard stories about strict religions and children who have died because of their faith. There were a lot of children who died because it was against their religion to get a blood transfusion, the sad part is that the religion they followed called them martyrs and put their pictures on their web page. Its always sad when children die so young, I feel like I took my childhood for granted.

Poor girl...there's nothing wrong in praying but too much praying won't do you any good. You need to do something, too. If the parents of that girl sent her to the hospital instead of just praying, she might have survived.

I hate fucking stupid people like that. It was their own fault. They could have prevented their daughter's death but instead chose to do nothing. I can't believe that no action is being taken against them. They should be charged with involuntary manslaughter. If I was in social services I would yank those other children out of that home so fast it would spin right off it's foundation. Considering their stupid statement "they didn't have enough faith" you know that if their other kids get sick they won't do anything different > they'll just let them die too.

Ya know, I respect other ppl's beliefs, but NOT at the expense of someone's life > ESP the life of a child who was depending on them.

As much as I want to see the parent's in trouble, unless the prosecution can prove that the parents did not pray for their child, then they can't be charged for parental neglect. For they did "pray" for her to be cured to their "god."

Plus, if the parents have witnesses that say that they were truly praying, then they really can't be touched. If they are pressed with charges, there will be an outrage of religious fanatics... I don't know if the government is prepared for that.

Government shouldn't be able to touch them, for they are using their "religion" as a shield between them and the government.

Ditto,

but poor girl :(
