plz go here ti sign the petition to stop the abolition of traditional chinese.

it is NOT a choice of either simplified or traditional but whether to keep traditional or not.

a lot of ppl believe the it is easier w/ simplified but that is only in pronouncng but not meaning. the culture n history of china has always lied within the traditional n we've been using since like forever so we should stop it. we do not want to be lazy ppl who have to learn traditional chinese from a japanese class, another country. that hurts nationalism!!!! read the article. it explains it even more detaily

WTF?!?!? dam u should be happy people want to learn about china. DONT BE STUPID. the only reason China was getting bullied in the industrail age was because we did expand only stick to tradition.

I don't understand why some people find this stupid...
So much of the world is losing tradition already...
Not saying don't move forward, but why have to destroy all traditional elements to do so?

for one thing industrialization had nothing to do with the writing system. secondly ppl learn about china not for the modern china bcuz its not too much of a difference from any modern nation. ppl cannot learn about china w/o learning about its culture which has a lot to do with traditional chinese n many other forms of it that tht existed in ancient china. killing off traditional would mean that everthing written in tradional would have to be revised causing a waste of currency. plus traditional is a lot easier when it comes to knowing the definition of the character. n plus if u know traditional, you basically know simplified except for the utterly different ones. but it does not go the other way. both ways have coexisted for a long time so why kill off traditonal now. its not like we're going retrograde, we're just keeping it like it is now which is just fine.

With 1.4 billion people in China alone and many Chinese more people outside of China, what makes you think a few hundred thousand would make a difference? That's assuming you even get that many in the first place.

what do you mean by for the better? u mean how everything would be easier to write? yes but harder to understand cuz simplified is very hard to distinguish between other character and meaning. for example the ban in lao ban which means boss, means a piece of wood in simplified, while in traditional, you write it with the character that means products inside of the character that means door. that makes a lot more sense in writing doesnt it.
