Wow, you guys are great. Those stories up there were really cute, honest! They made me smile... and kinda wish I could find love like that. Guys these days are asses.... most of the time. It's really rare to find a decent one.... but when you've got one, you better realize what you've got is probably going to be the best if you made your decisions right. Don't let him go. You'll definitely regret it. Same goes for you boys, too. Know love when it smacks you on the forehead or you'll lose it for a looooong time.

Anyways! I don't want to spam, so I'll post a little something of my own.

------------

'Enemy of Cuteness' by godime

Maoru Chigusa ran towards X Hall, breathing harshly. She had her books and notebooks for her next 2 classes clutched close to her chest so they wouldn’t fall on her not-so-smooth journey to her next class. She groaned in protest as she saw the clock hanging above the uppermost window strike 1:15. Seconds later, the period bell rang, resounding through the college campus. She yelled out in frustration as she slowed to an awkward speed walk through the long narrow stretch of pavement that lead to the building entrance. ’Dear God… I’m in my 3rd year of college! Why am I always late like this…?’ She questioned herself irritably as she walked.

A sudden gust swept through the campus, rushing past her. Maoru gasped as one of her loose papers was whisked away over her head. Her eyes widened as she recognized it—’No! My Physics paper! I need that for my next class!’ She thought, reaching up to grab it. But it was way out of her reach. She wasn’t exactly the tallest person in her class. ’Oh no—‘

Another hand reached out and grabbed the paper just as it fluttered behind her, securing it in a firm but gentle grip. “That was a close one, wasn’t it?” Maoru turned around and came face to face with a familiar looking man. The sudden gust had shocked her-- it never really got that windy around here—so she momentarily went blank. He was a good head and a half taller than her—she guessed grabbing that paper was no problem for him. He was wearing a white dress shirt, blue and red striped tie, and black pants. Definitely not a student; after all, who wore a tie to school? Said man looked down at her sternly, crossing his arms over his chest, the paper still clutched in his hand. “You’re late to my class AGAIN, Chigusa.”

Maoru shrieked in surprise as she finally remembered the man—“Oh, Sumi-sensei!” She squeaked, backing away from the towering man’s glowering eyes. Sawahara Sumi—3rd year Physics teacher. And only a small 5 years older than Maoru herself. Way too young to be a teacher at a university, right? Wrong. It was Maoru who was a little too old to be there. She had previously failed her last two attempts at her 2nd year, but had miraculously passed last time thanks to Sumi-sensei’s tutoring. Over time, Sumi-sensei had become a close friend to Maoru, though he was still a ‘strict bastard’ in the classroom.

Maoru chuckled nervously, trying to give him a small smile. “Y-You misunderstand, Sumi-sensei… you see, Tamahiko-nii had a hangover last night because he got fired again, so he couldn’t give me a ride to school… and I had to walk here!” She defended. Tamahiko Chigusa—Maoru’s 27 year old brother and frequent job-skipper. He often went into great depressions after getting fired and drank it off… though he had gotten fired so much, Maoru was wondering if he was using depression as an excuse to get a guilt-free drink. Maoru’s smile dropped as she saw the unconvinced glare on Sumi-sensei’s face. “Honest!” Maoru paused, her face lighting up. “Hey, aren’t you supposed to be in class, too, Sumi-sensei? You know… teaching?”

There was a moments silence between the two. “You’re right.” Sumi-sensei commented absent-mindedly, which caused Maoru to twitch violently. Here he was, lecturing her on being late, while HE was late himself. He began walking towards the building, motioning for Maoru to follow. Sumi-sensei turned his attention to the paper he had caught moments ago. “Ah… your thesis.” He muttered as he skimmed through it with a few “hmmms” and “huhs” here and there as they walked. “Very good, Chigusa. As a reward, I won’t mark you late. I’ll say you were helping me in the staff room.” Sumi-sensei said as he finished.

“Really? Thanks, Sumi-sensei!” Maoru said, beaming up at the taller man with large eyes. The two promptly entered the class room, which was conveniently located on the first floor. Without another word to each other, class began.

xxx

The end-of-the-day bell had rung almost an hour ago, and most of the students had already gone home. Except for Maoru. She was with Sumi-sensei in the staff room, waiting for him to pack up. “Thanks for giving me a ride home today, Sumi-sensei! I really appreciate it.” Said Maoru. After school, Sumi-sensei had stopped her from leaving, offering her a ride home. Not wanting to walk the marathon-length path to her brother’s apartment again, she agreed.

“Daijoubu—besides, I’m going that way as well.” Sumi-sensei replied, not looking back at her as he searched through his desk for papers he was to grade later. He soon found it, straightening up. He then noticed the questioning look on Maoru’s face. “What, you didn’t know? Tamahiko invited me over for something… however, he wouldn’t specify what.” He said, replying to her silent question. Sumi-sensei was Tamahiko’s old friend—whenever Tamahiko got fired, Sumi-sensei would always find him a new job.

Maoru nodded in understanding. “Oh…” She never heard of this! What was her brother keeping from her? She was so lost in thought that she didn’t notice Sumi-sensei was already at the door. A not-so-nice wake up shout of ‘BAKA’ snapped her out of her daze. She frowned at the exclamation, but proceeded to follow Sumi-sensei to the door. They made their way to his car, which was parked in the empty lot—it was the day before the weekend, and everyone wanted to get away. They got inside and Sumi-sensei started the engine, then drove off.

The ride in the car was a silent one. Maoru looked up at Sumi-sensei’s face. He looked as if he had something heavy on his mind. “Um… Sumi-sensei, is something the matter?” She asked hesitantly.

Sumi-sensei seemed to snap out of his serious demeanor, blinking a few times. “Oh… it’s nothing.” He replied. Maoru shot him an unconvinced look, then he sighed, giving in. “Katsuhara is going to be there.” He replied simply.

“Oh…” Maoru muttered, looking away. Katsuhara was another teacher at her university. She was beautiful—she almost seemed like an angel. Everyone wanted to be her lover, students and teachers alike. However, she was simply an AIRHEAD. Dense. Very, VERY dense. There was only one person on campus that had even gotten close to her—Sumi-sensei. It was even rumored that he was her lover. However, Katsuhara had flatly denied it. Sumi-sensei did also, but… Maoru felt like he had never meant it. She felt like he was really in love with her, but he didn’t want to force his feelings on Katsuhara, who in her mind, was simply too dense to have Sumi-sensei anyways.

Maoru blushed slightly at her own thoughts. ’Wh-who am I to have a say in their relationship?! Why do I even care? Sure, Sumi-sensei is a good friend, but…’ She thought, looking over at Sumi-sensei. She also noticed they were pulling up to Tamahiko’s apartment complex. “Oh… here already.” She muttered quietly.

Uh..... for the sake of your eyes(and the fact that this is all I have at the moment), I'll stop it here. So, um.... yeah. Still working. Note, this is not a multi-chapter. It's just an incredibly long one-shot.

Well, Sorrow... you've definatley improved. The grammer is getting better, as is the spelling and the plot line. I might have some decent competition on now. But the rape was definatley a little sudden. Don't try to rush things, Sorrow. A little more of a subtle ending would have worked just fine, but I guess it's fine as is. But hey, things happen whether we want them to or not. Life just loves to slap you on the face a few times a week.
Anyways! Back to the fic! Oh. and I've posted Maoru's and Sumi-sensei's pics in the photos section... take a peek, huh?

Enemy of Cuteness (part Two) by Godime

It was a quiet walk to Tamahiko's appartment. It was in the very back, top floor, so it took nearly 1/4th of Maoru's time just to get out of the building itself and get to school. Maoru glanced at Sumi-sensei, hoping to start a conversation. "Um... Sensei... do you want me to hold one of those bags?" Maoru asked, indicating to one of the two heavy-looking plastic bags in Sumi-sensei's hands. Sumi-sensei nodded, absent-mindedly handing her one of the bags. Maoru accepted it, then noticed the odd smell they emitted. "Eh? What's this...?" She asked.

"Natto." Sumi-sensei said, raising the bag in his hand. "Katsuhara loves them, no matter how disgusting I think they taste. She says she likes eating healthy. I thought it would be a good idea for Tamahiko to start eating some, too." He finished, looking away.

Maoru stuck her tounge out in disgust of the natto beans... and for Katsuhara. 'Kami-sama... he's been invited to Tamahiko-nii's place and the only one he thinks about is Katsuhara-sensei. The hell!' She thought irritably. 'And... don't you know she's cheating on you? I mean... I saw her at that expensive restuarunt you took me to when I graduated last year... with another guy! Don't you know? Or is it... that you don;t want to know?' "S-so... did Katsuhara-sensei ask you to bring these, Sensei?" Maoru asked, hoping that would have been the case.

"No." Sumi-sensei replied, looking down at the carpeted floor they were walking across. "I haven't seen Katsuhara in nearly a month. We talk, yes, but... we're not close anymore." He finished quietly, as if reluctantly admiting the fact.

'But I bet you wish you still were.' Maoru added, unintentionally finishing the older man's thoughts. Another passage of akward silence swept by. Maoru was too discouraged to spark up another conversation, so it was relativley quiet the rest of the way home. Finally, they reached apartment 309, Tamahiko's apartment. Maoru knocked on the door, only to have it opened by...

"OH! Tama-san, your sister's here! And Sumi-san, too!" Maoru twitched slightly at the shrill voice of Haruno Katsuhara, university teahcer and Sumi-sensei's unrequited love. She ushered the two inside, then closed the door behind them. 'Tama-san?' Maoru thought, confused as she wlaked into the living room. 'Since when did she start calling Tamahiko-nii THAT?!' She looked up at Sumi-sensei. Even though his face was stoic as usual, she could tell he was confused as well.

"Ah, Katsuhara-san. I brought natto... and other things. Just in case you're still on that healthy-trend." Sumi-sensei said with a small smile. He set the bag on the kitchen counter-- Maoru followed suit.

"Eh..? Natto? That's not the thing to bring to a congradulations party, Sumi-san! This isn't the health club meeting!" Tamahiko moaned in complaint. He stopped as Katsuhara knelt down behind him and engulfed him in a hug. Maoru stiffled a gasp-- she looked up at Sumi-sensei and saw his eyes narrow dangerously.

"Aw, don't be so mean, Tama-san! This is a celebration... a congrats party! We all need to be happy!" Katsuhara said with a cheery grin. "So Tell them the good news, Tama-san." She said, sitting down to a more comfortable position, her arm still slung around Tamahiko's neck. 'Get your hands off of him... someone like you doesn't deserve my brother!' Maoru thought hatefully.

"Well..." Tamahiko started, blushing slightly. "Katsuhara-san and I... are dating. And... we've decided to get engaged next week!"

Maoru's eyes widened in shock. 'Wh-what? I... I... Tamahiko-nii! Why are you getting engaged... to THAT?' Maoru thought, though she was too shy to protest her feelings aloud. She looked up at Sumi-sensei, expecting him to object. 'Yes... he's loved Katsuhara for so long! Of course he'll say something!' She thought hopefully.

"Katsuhara-san... Tamahiko-san..." Sumi-sensei started, his eyes closing. 'Yes! Here it comes!' Maoru thought, the anticipation rising within her. "That's... great!" Maoru's eyes widened in shock at Sumi-sensei's reaction. He was... smiling. As if he was... happy. She watched him walk casually over to the new couple, showering them with congradulations. Maoru stood there for a few seconds, shock paralyzing her body. Then, she finally couldn't take it anymore.

"No!" Everyone looked at her as she angrily banged an open palm against the walls of the apartment. She paused, looking at her brother's confused face. "No... no more sake!" She quickly continued as Katsuhara reached for the sake container. "Uh... I'll go down to Haruko-jii's and get some... bye!" She said quickly as she dashed to the door.

"E-eh? But... Haruko won't let you in because of the accident last time..." Tamahiko quietly objected.

"Uh... Sumi-sensei, you go with me!" Maoru added as she slammed the door shut. Sumi-sensei shrugged, then got up and followed her out. To his surprise, she found her out by the stairwell, tears welling up on the brims of her eyes. She looked up and noticed Sumi-sensei, then immidiatley began wiping away the tears, though it was futile. They just kept coming.

"Tamahiko-nii.... is an idiot." She muttered quietly. "He can't see through... Katsuhara-sensei's plans. She wants to money our tou-san left us after he died.... but we swore never to take it out of the bank unless it was an emergency. 2 million... that's how much we have in the bank." She sniffed.

Sumi-sensei slowly approached her, laying a calming hand on her shaking shoulder. "You're... crying for your brother?" He asked hesitantly.

"No..." Maoru continued. "I'm crying for Sumi-sensei, too!" Sumi-sensei's eyes widened in surprise. "I know how much Sumi-sensei liked Katsuhara-sensei... and then... and then she goes off and does this. She's a horrible person! I hate her for it!" Maoru shouted, the tears she tried so hard to keep back finally streaming fown her face.

"Keep it down. They might hear you." Sumi-sensei cautioned, looking around the empty hall.

"No! I can't! Whenever I start crying, I can't stop, and--" Maoru blurted, embaressed. She was suddenly cut off as sumi-sensei suddenly leaned forward, smashing his lips against hers. It took a moment for Maoru to comprehend what was going on. But... she noticed one thing, and she was sure Sumi-sensei noticed it too. Her tears had stopped. After a few seconds, Sumi-sensei pulled away, leaving Maoru dazed by his sudden advance.

"There." Sumi-sensei said in his ususal, simplistic monotone voice. "You stopped. You really shouldn't cry so much. Tears on the face of a cute girl like you.... they're the enemy of all things cute. Like you." He added jokingly. He gave her a warm smile, one she had never seen before. "To tell you the truth... I knew what Katsuhara was doing... I never wanted to beleive it. But before you told me yourself.... reality came back and struck me. I can't beleive how much of a fool I was..." He muttered.

"Sumi-sensei..."

The older man suddenly hugged her, trapping Maoru against a wall and his warm frame. "No one has ever... seen me like this. I've known Katsuhara for years, and yet you, a girl who I've only known for one... saw through me that easily." He said in her ear, causing Maoru to blush slightly. "Please.... let me stay like this a little while longer." He finished, hugging her closer.

Maoru smiled, one last tear streaming down her face. She felt something warm and wet fall upon her shoulder. Realizing what it was, she embraced the older man as well. "I like you, Sumi-sensei."

xxx
(Maoru's POV)

Summer arrived quickly, and I gladly reported to Sumi-sensei that I had passed this year with flying colors. 'The battle may be over, but the war has not been won.' That's what he told me. And I know he's right. About school and my brother. Before school had ended, My brother also reported that he found a well-paying job in Tokyo and was moving away with Katsuhara. He asked me to come along.

But you know what I said? No. I will be waiting here in Hokkaido, waiting. And ready to help him if that Katsuhara lady ever gives him trouble. Oh yeah, she went with him too. Good riddance. After all, I'm happy here. With Sumi-sensei. And I even moved in with him, because he said 'young women like me shouldn't live alone in these times.' So yeah. I'm happier than I have ever been in my life... and I'm pretty sure Sumi-sensei is too.

I know it sounds like Junjou Romantica.... but it's STRAIGHT this time, so there's a little difference. I've been on a Junjou Romantica and Junjou Egoist rant for quite some time... especially after they removed it from CR. I've aspired to locate and buy all the manga if I can.

And thank you, Sorrow, for pointing that out. 'Tis been fixed. And for your questions.... congrats party = party for congradulations of a certain event. Quite literal.
Tou-san = Father.
Owari = 'The End'
And no, I don't think the age difference is that big. Look at Misaki and Usagi from JR.... quite sizable. And hey, my parents are 7 years apart, too. xD
