^ Haha, you don't like calling, and you don't like texting as well...

With the Philippines having one of the greatest GSM networks in the world, it's a must to have a cellphone, more so know how to text and send messages. There are lots of promos out in the market here in the Philippines to make texting cheap, simply because many Filipinos would like to save money in terms of the number of texts they send. Why Texting became the preferred medium of communication, I don't know... but for more than one instance, texting has gotten me out of doing things I'm assigned to do:

Group Leader: Ed, did you get my text last night about the report?

Me: Text? What text sir?

Group Leader: the 3 page text I sent that had details about your assigned part in the report.

Me: I'm sorry sir, I didn't receive any text from you.

Group Leader: Really? What network are you?

Me: (I'll say the network of the rival telecommunication company, knowing the network that he's subscribed to)

Group Leader: Oh... I see. Well then, just submit to me your requirements tomorrow.

Me: sure thing, sir.

It's a scapegoat. Technically, it's like saying that since there's a discrepancy in the network, it's most probable that that's the reason why the message wasn't able to push through. There is no actual backup to prove this theory, but it's become a relatively valid reason... sort of.

Maybe my example wasn't clear, but I was being sarcastic when I was talking to the group leader. I DID receive his message, but since it's in text, I can simply come up with an alibi for not doing my work.

My cellphone bills are relatively cheap. However, back when I was with Cingular, they would fuck me over every single month. They would regularly send me $400 phone bills, even though my plan was only $40 a month.

hmm.. do people use that as a common reason?.. does it happens frequently?.. do people complain about it?.. do u still get charged for the message u sent?..

lol.. im curious.

I got my phone when I was 16, and I pay every cent for it. Usually my bill ranges from $25-$30 a month. I get a few min, but I mainly text. I get 500 text to people outside my service, and unlimited for people inside my service, and it's only $10 extra (normally my bill would be cheaper without it)
