try team fortress 2.

i think that qualifies for "MMO" but not mmorpg.

mmorpgs are for faggots though.

Regarding MMORPGs, I'm currently playing one called Ragnarok though it's slowly dying out. It's done in an Anime/Cartoony style which I found quite appealing though.

As for normal MMO games, I haven't played many others for a long time but Chess is pretty good :p.

Just go buy World of Warcraft like everyone else so this topic can end.

*opinions in parenthesis

Pros:
1.) Easy to pick up.
2.) Wonderful community (I recommend an RP server for beginners so you don't have to get ganked by a lvl 70 in enemy territory :-P).
3.) Graphics are excellent.
4.) Scenery is Beautiful.
5.) Leveling up is as easy as one, two, three.
6.) You usually only get lag in Crowded parts of cities and in PvP Battlegrounds.
7.) Several different ways to make your character look unique.
8.) Hundreds of thousands of quests to keep you hooked.
9.) Over fifty types of dungeons.
10.) Nine different types of classes to choose from.
11.) Fully customizable talent trees with various skills and abilities.

Cons:
1.) Many people view $15.00 monthly as high price (Even I did when I started, but honestly it Isn't that much to pay for what you get out of this game).
2.) Some people consider it to be addictive (And yet so is everything else in the world that gives the mind a sense of joy).
(I truly cannot think of any other reasons why to not like this game, unless your a noob who started on a PvP server and was instantly ganked. Other than that, WoW is currently the best MMORPG in the world with over 10 million subscribers).

Yea but it gradually gets boring once u have a lvl 70 or a few.... i got 4 of them, Each took about a month or 2

Crunchyland? No, that sucks.. Lunia is so slow unless you have a good connection or you will get disconnected for every 10 minutes, and it's boring. That arcade stlye and the lack of customization.

Maybe Gunz or Age of Armor.

First of all, a good mmo is hard to come by nowadays with all the generic games that all look and play the same. Kill a monster, gain a level, kill more monsters until you reach the level cap. Eventually I think the producers of mmo's would finally figure out that this gets boring very quickly.

When someone does finally get the idea to put something good into a mmo such as crafting they decide to make it so you have to kill stuff to advance with your crafting which makes no sense due to the fact that you're learning you can be better at armor crafting by killing stuff. Sometimes you get something good though like starwars galaxies which had a lot of good ideas and gameplay until the [email protected] at sony decided that they needed to make the combat like every mmo out there as well and that this would help their sales in which they were completely WRONG! Another good example of this is Runescape while you do not need to kill stuff to advance with crafting, you could basically become completely economic by just mining and smelting the whole game and if that got boring you could move onto something else like cooking/fishing.

Almost all mmo's have the same storyline as well, there's some evil guy out there terrorizing the world and you and a party of other players basically have to go and kill him which in most downloaded games never happens. Now whenever I download a game I skip the introductions and say 'where's nearest baddie i have to stab and gain a level with'.

There are some mmo's that are good with fresh ideas and based around having fun and others that are based around seeing how long it takes you to reach level billion and how much money they can sucker you out of. In my opinion WoW was a revolutionary mmo of the time but after my character reached lvl 70 I suddenly found myself with nothing to do except sit around and let everyone walk by to go on dungeon raids to get money so they could get that epic mount so they could just move their lazy a@*# around faster. Guildwars at least had the fast travel and the level cap was only 20 so it was more about skill than anything but it did get boring after beating the campaign with nothing else except pvp and buying and selling rare items left afterward. Of course with Guildwars 2 they're shifting to the generic style of mmo as well.

Now then to finalize I'm going to say if you like spending hours killing stuff and putting up with a lot of people complaining about how they keep getting killed play WoW by all means. But if you're looking for a innovative game with new ideas I can highly recommend picking up a copy of Lord of the Rings Online which has lots to do such as crafting, playing music, killing stuff, and of course the main quest. But if you want my true opinion wait until something else comes out that has more to do than what you usually see, make sure it has a large world, good crafting system, new ideas, and if a character gets bored of combat will more have to do later on.
