Well, seeing as this is a Japanese media site, many of the users are bound to be Japanese. That being said, I'm sure many of you know a good deal about Japanese history. This is a thread to talk about the history of the place where anime comes from, Japan.

You can talk about any aspect of Japanese history here you find interesting. Who you might think is the strongest warlord or warrior in Japanese history for example. Who made the first katana, how sushi was first invented- the possibilities are endless.

So enjoy. I expect to learn a lot here.

Wow great topic!

Hmmm... Strongest warrior I think was Tsukahara Bokuden, known as the most legendary of swordsman in Japanese history.
Runners up are: Miyamoto Musashi, Itto Ittosai, and Yagyu Munenori Tajima no Kami.

I'd say Kondo Isami for the greatest warrior and Tokugawa Ieyasu for the warlord.

Yeah, she's right Miyamoto-sensei is the greatest because of his many duels.
And not only that he is a great martial artist but also a great sculptor and a great painter.

that's true, but, isn't he a cruel lord cuz I've heard that he kills anyone who gets in his way, even women and children. I even heard that he also kills the enemy's cattles

Rumors. Perhaps true; Perhaps false.

When he burnt Iga (because of the lawlessness) women and children died. However he didn't do it, so doubtful.

me i have to say Okita Souji, Sakamoto Ryoma, Yukimura Sanada(he destroyed practically all of ieyasu's soldiers before he reached his main camp),Musashi Miyamoto, Jubei Yagyu, and Hideyoshi Toyotomi for warlords

I agree with Okita, Ryoma, and Sanada, but when were Musashi and Jubei warlords?

Jubei is used alot I see.

He is well known in anime, but he never was very recognized in history. Not a fraction of the amount of skill of Musashi, Ittosai, or Bokuden.
