What type of chinese sword?

My 2nd favorite bladed weapon would have to be a Kokatana shinsaku-to. The type of training I seek is tachijutsu, specifically from the school, Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto-ryu. Even though I forgot to post this in my other favorite, the type of training I seek for it is the exact same thing. My kokatana shinsaku-to is there just to complement my Okatana Dotanuki for my ryōtōjutsu and for occasions when my arm is tired or speed is needed.

I am guessing that is a chinese doubled-edge straight sword by the looks of it. The proper name for it would be a Jian.

My fav would be uchigatana. Uchigatana enables a fast strike techniques called "battojutsu. If I'm not mistaken, it involves of drawing a sword, strike and return to sheath. Examples of these moves in anime or game (in order to give a clear idea) alike are:

1) Himura kenshin (hiten mitsurugi ryu) - Rurouni kenshin (anime)
2) Vergil - Devil May Cry 3 (game)
3) Ukyo - samurai showdown (game)

The reason I like this blade is because I like the idea of "fast strike" instead of prolonged battle. The "shape" of the blade itself enable the user to execute strike before the opponent is able to do so.

Very interesting point. I am glad someone recognized the uchigatana as a formidable weapon.
As a student and instructor of Battojutsu, I can say that it is nothing like the mentioned examples in those games. The technique "battokiri" was invented by a user of the Uchigatana, and they are thus associated but battojutsu is an entire style which came over two centuries after the conception of the Uchigatana.

Ah a fellow knife lover!

Even though I am both a fencer and an iaijutsuka and posess three katana, a wakizashi, a sidesword, main guiche, and smallsword which I adore and even though I love shooting at the range and collect guns, I always come back to knives; my first love. That's a EXTREMELY versatile tool and weapon that has a special place in my heart. My grandfather, a veteran of WW2 and Korean War, taught be how to knife fight and throw knives. Of course you never throw a good combat knife, but I have an assortment of shuriken [kogatana and boshuriken mainly.]

I have several favorites, but I think the hissatsu is my absolute.

Here's a quote from a previous post about my favorite knives knives;

My favorite knives I own are here in order:

5. Arkansas Toothpick [The blade is 8 inches long and on mine I have a curved antler hilt I affixed. I found it with a metal detector at my brother's house. A long way away from arkansas.]

4. The Alabama Slammer

3. Kabar Fighter

2. Buck M9

And my number one favorite knife I have ever owned...

1. Hissatsu
