uhh...this is a historical group. I might make a thread for fantasy warriors but the main purpose of this particular thread was to see what kind of warrior (that actually at one point or another existed) you'd want to be.

Hehe me, if you want a historical one would have to be a knight with a horse and Huge sword, something like cloud trained specially so that the slim body could lift a ton

That's not quite historical either.
Huge swords are pointless. Even if one could wield it [you would have the have the mass to support the weight, so being slim would not work.] you would probably get killed before you could even lift it.

That's why there are no such things as huge swords IRL.

who said I was going to swing it XD its a sheild I was half asleep writing that really a sword as thick as a... omg I don't want a sword, I need claws I'd be a mercenary some one you hire, like a hitman except in the time before guns, guns are good an all but it takes away the effort of becoming able to use a weapon to its full potential. A gun is a gun, its used to kill people for instance, take a kid and a grown man for example give them a gun and you wont know what will happen as for taking a kid and a grown man and giving them a sword the man would win because he has the strength and on top of that if you are able to train the kid he might be able to defeat the opponent because the kid would know which way to reflects the sword or divert it or where to cut to make an instant kill. So in the end I'm a mercenary with claws and a dài- katana any thing happens to the claws I got a huge sword to help me. I'm thankful for all the things we have right now but I would ratherngo back to the renisance period and be a rich kid hehe my dads side is from royalty not sure which country I think its prusia not russia prusia, look it up if you don't beleive me... Life in this age is boring wish I was back then when there was peace and feast. Electronic devices are addicting I hate them but love them at the same time.

So you'd use a huge giant sword as a shield? That's still pretty fantasy. Plus it would slow you down immensely.

You're not exactly correct on that either. It takes practice and training to use a gun to it's full potential as well. If I gave you a gun, I sincerely doubt you would be able to quickdraw or frontsight let alone even grasp the concept. Would you know how to clear a jam, reload, and then kill enemies all in the midst of battle with bullets flying everywhere? No. I'm not even going to mention CQB because I doubt you'd know what it was.

How do you figure if you give someone a sword they would win? A sword takes even more years of training even to be able to wield efficiently let alone to fight with it.

A Daikatana is not huge. The blade's only about 15 cm longer and the blade is much weaker than the katana. It wouldn't be used against another sword or it would break. The Daikatana was not sharp. It was used to whack at horses to knock off people on them.

Claws wouldn't be much use. It's a severe lack of distance.

What would be more efficient is the use of crossbows for a long range weapon(s) and then for a melee weapon, if you want something with a lot of power I would suggest either a flanged mace or a bearded axe. You might want an intermediate range weapon like a spear. If you want a sword I suggest a backup sword, something small yet effective like a falchion, shortsword, or gladius.
That would be a wise setup for a mercenary.

If you want me to believe that you are royalty, what is your fathers full name?

It wasn't even close to being "peace and feast" back then. There was constant warring. These days we live in an age of relative peace. Furthermore, there are many more things to do in this day and age than back then. If you're bored now, you'd probably end up offing yourself back then.
I suggest you look into history a bit more.

So even if I was a mercanary I'd be broke not much money made when its peacefull. But yeah I wouldn't have offed myself back then I would have practiced fencing, and playing the harpsicord and one question what's ur xbox live games tag if you have one.

If you tell me your father's full name I can find out easily.

The renaissance was in no way a period of peace. It was not a period at all in fact as such a thing can not be a uniform change. More like 3 centuries of evolving warfare. The English and the Spanish fought for the seas and there was many wars of conquest. In college I previously majored in world history with emphasis on 12-17th centuries.

The Renaissance was filled with great and famous wars.
Ever heard of the Hundred Years War? That was at the beginning of the renaissance.
The Ottomans were fighting the Polish and Hungarian.
There was The War of The Roses, The Siege of Belgrade.
The Sengoku Jidai, nearly 2 centuries of war.
Spain and France fought vehemently.
The English tried conquesting against the French and Scottish.
Herman Cortes leads the Spanish conquest of Mexico and massacred thousands. There was The Peasant Wars, and the Italian Wars. The Incan Civil War.
Even the Battle Royal with The French, Ottomans, and Scottish fighting against the Holy Roman Empire and the British Empire. Ethiopia fought with The Portuguese.
Scottish Civil War. The famous battle of Uedahara was fought when firearms were first used in a battle in Japan. The Mongols fought with the Chinese. The Eighty Years War between Spain and the Netherlands.
Revolts happened all around. The rise of Ivan The Terrible who massacred countless innocents. The St. Bartholomew's Day massacre. The Ango-Spanish War. The Long War. The Battle of Sekigahara. The Great Turkish War. The Dutch Revolt. The English Civil War.The Thirty Years War. The Polska-Ottoman war. The FAMOUS War of Three Kingdoms with civil wars in Scotland, Ireland, and England.

And that's all just from my memory.
Still convinced that the Renaissance was all peace and love?

It was actually in Italy that the Mercenary Wars began in I believe the 15th century. Mercenaries were hired to fight the battles of the nobles.

I don't have an X-Box. I am a Sony and PC man. I have an old PS2 and haven't bothered upgrading yet. The only real game series I care about spending my time on are Suikoden, Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, and Castlevania. Which I find EXTREEEEMLY wierd since they are all made by Konami.
If I am bored I practice martial arts and practice with my bandmates. Though occaisionally I still play some SNES/GEN roms. I haven't been much of a gamer since I was 18 or so.

Haha thanks. I've had nearly 6 years of college education on the subjects of Psychology, Sociology, World History[Before 1800] History, Philosophy, and East Asian Culture [History and Anthropology with an emphasis on Japan] Furthermore I have been in martial arts for 18 years now. I'm an assistant instructor in Kito ryu Jujutsu and Muso Shinden ryu Iaijutsu [Swordsmanship utilizing the draw of the blade to make a initial cut. It has Kenjutsu and Battojutsu in transmission as well] and I am a student of various others including Traditional Fencing, American Kempo,

I work as a writer for now until I can get my business up and then I will be the CEO of a Independant Entertainment Company and a Creative Director making video games and possibly an actor/writer in independent movies. Someday I plan to run a restaurant as find epicurean cooking is another hobby of mine. Eventually I want to teach to pass on everything I know when I get older. I have professional voice training and my singing range is from Tenor to Second Soprano. I can hit some Falsetto notes [ala Freddy Mercury] as well. I front[sing in] a band called Natural Outlaw and we play everything from Classic Rock[Led Zeppelin, U2, The Beatles, Queen, Aerosmith, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones] to Punk[Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Ramones, Black Flag] to Goth Rock[The Cure, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division] with some influences from blues, flamenco, and baroque classical throne in sometimes. I can play the piano, violin, and the bass guitar well but not great. I can play a little acoustic/electric guitar but I am in no way suitable to play it in a band.

My interests are wide and versatile. I can have a conversation about many topics and I am well read and up to date on many affairs past and current.

Thats my prime training/skills/interests right there.

I also have an eidetic memory and thus can recall information at will.

That will probably answer all your questions about me.

I would like to be a Samurai ninja because I would want the talent of using a Katana and the speed of a ninja. It would be cool to be a gunman too but I kinda like katanas more.

Hihi, welcome to the group. This topic is more of historic measure than fantasy. In actuality ninja are not warriors or assassins but spies.
I think Mace meant for us to put warrior classes.

For example, one could say that they would have liked to be a Spartan, or a Templar from the Crusades. I can't personally decide who I would like to be but It would be interesting to know what the rest of you would say .
